The GPS was deactivated the their cells were turned off? WTHeck-----I don't understand that.

The only thing that makes any sense is if they drove into the water on purpose...BUT WHY, I cant make sense of that.

They looked so healthy and happy on their FBs. Lots of friends. Lots of interests. What are the odds that BOTH brothers would be depressed enough to take their own lives at same time like that?

back at start of thread, I had wondered if there were bridges or water nearby, because the only thing that made sense to me was that maybe they accidentally drove off into the water. But the GPS and turned off cells----so odd.

Is it possible that water short circuit their gps/phones?
Maybe delay on water getting into their phone for whatever reason, had a delay from when the cars gps got turned off?

Oh no, how desperately sad for their family.

They were within a mile of the plaza, so I guess their mobiles didn't switch cell towers and the water ended all electronic communication.

They must have been looking for the car further afield in Halton Region (closer to their Oakville home) and they were located on the western fringe of a separate region ((Peel), different police force.

The area looks to be quite open on a map (no trees), but maybe there were tall reeds obscuring the view of a damaged chain-link fence?

Could the phones just have been turned off because of the impact with the water? Or can they confirm they were turned off before they went into the water?

“They just immigrated here two years back. I knew the family. They were living in Oakville. We went to the same school back in Kuwait,” family friend Omar told CP24 Wednesday.

“They were really nice, a small family. They were very loving kids and they really enjoyed… coming to Canada, immigrating to Canada. They were really excited about going to the high school.”

Investigators have released few details about the case but said on the night the two brothers went missing, they reportedly went to the gym, visited friends and stopped for gas a few kilometres away from where their vehicle was found.
Police have not determined exactly how the vehicle ended up in the water but said it appears the BMW was going west on Thomas Street when the driver failed to brake or turn at a "T" intersection. The vehicle, police say, struck and vaulted a curb, launched through the chain-link fence and landed in the pond.

Losing one son must be incredibly painful but losing two sons and at the same time...It must be hell. Love and light to their loved ones.

So it was a terrible accident, but unusual. There are traffic lights and overhead lights at that intersection. They would have gone through the chain link fence, and there is nothing to obscure the view.

...It’s the second time this year a car has been pulled from the pond. In June, a muscle car plunged into the water after crashing through the fence. The driver notified police the next day. He was not injured.

On Facebook, Malik Sikander, who identifies himself as an older brother of the deceased men, writes that he "lost everything today."
"My brothers died a very painful death," Sikander continues. "After the car crash their car went into the pond. Airbags deployed, yet somehow they managed to escape through the sunroof. Shocked by the car crash and cold water they must have been confused and were swimming in the wrong direction. They were not good swimmers."

I feel deeply sorry for the boys' family. Not only have they lost two sons but some comments on media appeals were nasty.

The brother also stated at the time that his Mom was on a plane from Pakistan and didn't know yet that her sons had been found. Sad.

Sikander says on the day the two brothers were reported missing, they video chatted for hours.

“This is so unreal, still can’t believe this. I just want this to be a nightmare from which I want to wake up.”
Sikander says his mother is on the way to Canada from Pakistan and that he is awaiting travel documents before making his way from Glasgow.

Speeding car and losing control maybe. Phones would have died in the water so that would explain them being 'turned off'
Just my opinion of course, but young men and fast cars can be fatal.

"If I had known that they would go, I would have talked to them all day," he said.
