Helen had recently given up on her daughter and her boyfriend left her. She was in a bad moment in her life. It is possible that on the night of October 13 she was preparing to commit suicide. She wanted to talk to her sister, and her sister still wonders to this day what Helen thought...although there was always the possibility of kidnapping and murder...she lived a high-risk lifestyle. . The fact that she spent a summer during her teenage years hitchhiking and sleeping outside was shocking to me. Helen was clearly comfortable hitchhiking and she may have agreed to be given a ride by the wrong person...
