''By Thursday afternoon, two officers remained stationed on the walkway between the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy building and the C. David Naylor Building, still cordoned off by police tape. University staff said to expect an increased presence of Toronto police and campus security while the investigation remains ongoing. Police confirmed Thursday evening they were investigating the man’s death as a homicide.''

It seems odd to me that LE have not held a press conference and there has been no announcement to students as to the homicide and their safety on campus. Also, was it a student who was killed or someone not affiliated with the university, perhaps a homeless person sleeping on the bench near where the homicide took place, etc.? Odd to me that there is no information provided to the public, particularly to students.

''On Thursday, Lisa Dolovich, dean of U of T’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, notified faculty, students, and staff of an “incident on campus,” which she indicated occurred directly north of the pharmacy building.

“Toronto Police and Campus Safety are present and investigating the site. We have been informed that there is no risk to the surrounding area and that operations can proceed as planned,” she wrote.

Dolovich advised that there may be restrictions to certain walkways in the surrounding area while the investigation is ongoing.

She also reminded students of resources available to them at the U of T community.

Seeing a body covered by an orange tarp was unsettling for students as they arrived for morning classes.''

Arrest!
''Hours later, police announced that the suspect had been arrested. Sources told CP24 the man, identified as 31-year-old Adimabua Chukwuka, was apprehended in 51 Division and that a member of the public called 911 after they saw his photo.

Chukwuka has been charged with first-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday morning.

Furthermore, sources said the accused was “also in the shelter system” and was involved in other violent incidents in 2014 and 2022, in which he was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.''

So if he was charged with other violent incidents including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon, what was he doing being on the street and not locked up?? And what does it mean that he was "in the shelter system"? Does this mean he was in a homeless shelter? And why would they allow a dangerous and violent criminal like this to be "in the shelter system"??

Waiting to hear answers to those questions from concerned citizens with their outrage and possibly the family members or friends or acquaintances of the victim, Mario Ferreira.

''Past news releases from Toronto Police show Chukwuka was charged with multiple offences in separate incidents in 2014 and 2022.

He was accused in multiple stabbings in August of 2014 and charged with 10 counts, including attempted murder, aggravated assault and failing to comply with probation.

Police laid 10 more charges in April 2022 after two more incidents in which Chukwuka allegedly pulled a knife on a man and stole his cellphone, and stabbed another man twice in the chest during a dispute.''

''Police say on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. two men were involved in a dispute in the Yonge St.-Finch Ave. W. area. A man brandished an edged weapon and stabbed a 35-year-old man in the chest before fleeing on foot.

On Monday at 2 p.m., police say the same man was in the same area when he approached a 38-year-old man and produced an edged weapon before demanding the victim’s cellphone. The victim complied, fled on foot and was not injured.''
