"Ivica Batusic left Fifty Point Marina in his sailboat at approximately 5:00 p.m. on September 6, 2014. He was due to return to the Marina by 8 p.m. but he never arrived. His wife called Trenton Marine Rescue and a search by air, sea and shoreline was conducted by members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Marine Unit, Prescott Coast Guard and Trenton Marine Rescue. Search efforts were concentrated mainly in Niagara Region and the boat was subsequently located washed ashore at Jordan Harbour by Niagara Regional Police Service but Mr. Batusic was not in the boat.

Ivica Batusic is described as a white male, 6’1” (185 cm), 299 lbs (61 kg), grey-black hair and hazel eyes.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the D/Sgt Victims of Crime Unit at 905-546-4962.''

''Niagara Regional Police were notified by the Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Trenton of an overdue boater from the Fifty Point Marine around 11 p.m. on Friday. The boater was believed to be in the Grimsby area of Lake Ontario when an intense thunderstorm swept through.

Police officers searched along the shore of the lake, while the Canadian Coast Guard launched a marine search.
The coast guards found the missing 32-foot sailboat, named Westwind, in the area of Jordan Harbour around midnight. It was aground and unoccupied when it was found.
The coast guards, the Niagara Regional Police's marine unit and air crews from RCC Trenton continued to search the waters and along the shore overnight and throughout Saturday.

The missing boater is identified as 47-year-old Ivan Batusic from Burlington, Ont. He described as about six feet tall, 300 pounds with short grey and black hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing black cargo shorts and blue sandals. ''

Thanks, from link..
''He is a resident of the Grande Regency, a luxury high-rise condominium that overlooks Burlington’s downtown.''

“I didn’t even know he had a boat. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy, always very pleasant.”

No one the Post talked to at a small commercial strip plaza a short walking distance from Batusic’s condo said they recognized a photo of him.

The Commodore of the Fifty Point Yacht Club in Stoney Creek told the Post he had passing contact with Batusic. He last saw him less than a week before his disappearance, over the Labour Day weekend.

“I first met Ivan in 2013 when he came to our dock. However, he did not join Fifty Point Yacht Club until this year and he moved to a different dock when a vacancy occurred to be closer to friends,” Brian Weber said in an email.

“From my brief dealing with Ivan, he always appeared happy and would always give me a wave as we strolled by his boat. He enjoyed his family and friends at the marina and he had a true love for the water.”
