The state will not move forward with the conspiracy to commit murder case against Kent Mawhinney in the disappearance and death of Jennifer Dulos. Instead, Mawhinney today pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of interfering with an officer.
The sentence is 11 months in prison, which Mawhinney has already served.

Jeffrey Kestenband, one of Mawhinney’s attorneys, said the murder of Jennifer Dulos was senseless, and “We want to express our condolences to her five children.”

Per State’s Attorney Paul Ferencek, despite the judge finding probable cause for the warrant in 2020 and a continued exhaustive investigation by the State’s Attorney’s Office, the state doesn’t have the evidence to prove a conspiracy to commit murder charge.

This is exactly what I knew would happen. KM’s ex-wife ought to be nervous now that he can stalk her without being monitored.

I hope he provided something, anything to the State that helped prosecute MT because otherwise this hand  slap pat is an utter miscarriage.

He was part of the pre-planning.
He was twice near a dug grave, FTLOG.
He met up with FD on Murder's eve. Meet up, meat up. What was the point of that if not to coordinate the next day?
He was party to the use of FD's phone to create the appearance of presence for FD.
As a LAWYER, he should be held to a HIGHER standard, not a LOWER one.

There is one consolation -- his subplot and his subcharacter have been exposed. Anyone who falls to his charm now, such as he has any, chooses to.

Buyer beware.

I hope he didn’t just givecthem something to prosecute her-I hope it was something that will keep her in prison, because of the appeals process. Don’t want her getting out in a year, you know.

One other consolation, MT is probably spitting her teeth right now. FD is dead, KM is loose, and she's the only one left holding the bag, the trash bags from under the sink at JFd's house, later recovered from a bin along the Odessey of Adventure datenight drive, the one with JFd's bloody clothing and MT's filthy fingerprints on it. I hope she enjoys her fine in prison for the threes of them, since she's the only one behind bars. May she choke on whatever secrets she still keeps, unless she finds an ounce of decency and comes clean.

Otherwise, good riddance.

I haven’t looked at any troconis-adjacent social media yet because I’m at work. I wonder what’s out there today?

The family and friends of Jennifer Farber Dulos released a statement on Friday afternoon.

"We want to thank the state’s attorney’s office—in particular, Paul Ferencek, Michelle Manning, and Sean McGuinness—for their long-term commitment to this case and their careful consideration in seeking justice. We also express deep gratitude to the investigators and other law enforcement personnel for their dedication.

"Today’s development does not absolve Kent Mawhinney of conspiracy to murder. His arrest warrant includes evidence sufficient to bring that charge, but the burden of proof is great by necessity. The conspiracy charge was dropped for multiple reasons, including the fact that another lengthy, complex jury trial would come at a substantial cost, financial as well as emotional, to all involved. We are in full support of the state’s attorneys’ decision.

"Recently, we marked the six-year milestone of Jennifer’s disappearance. Many questions remain. It is clear that Jennifer was the victim of a systematically planned, ruthlessly executed murder, and her body still has not been found. We believe that someone possesses additional knowledge about where she is, and we hope fervently that they will come forward with that information.

"We miss Jennifer every day, in every way, and ask that you please respect the privacy of her family and loved ones. Thank you," Carrie Luft said in a statement on behalf of the family and friends of Jennifer Farber Dulos.

Such class and so much said, without saying it.

The darkness that surrounds the conspiracy to murder takes away nothing from the light that is Jennifer and her memory.

I wonder if they were also concerned that if they went to trial, the evidence would compromise MT's appeal? IDK.
