Both Roger and Michael Anthony Bilodeau were expected in court on Aug 13th. Was it postponed?

You’re right, no word. It’d be great if both chose to plead guilty and save the family members from all these hearings, leading toward the additional emotional turmoil of a “not guilty plea” trial.

The jury came back with quite a quick verdict of guilty. It must be somewhat of relief to the family of the victims to finally have this trial over with.

“An Edmonton jury has found an Alberta father and son guilty in the shooting deaths of two Métis hunters.

Anthony Bilodeau, 33, was found guilty of second-degree murder Tuesday in the March 27, 2020 death of Maurice Cardinal, 57. Bilodeau was also found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Jacob Sansom, 39.

The jury found Bilodeau's father Roger Bilodeau, 58, guilty of two counts of manslaughter of Cardinal and Sansom.”

“An Alberta man was sentenced on Friday to life in prison without parole eligibility for 13 years in the second-degree murder of Métis hunter Maurice Cardinal.

Anthony Bilodeau was also sentenced to eight years for the manslaughter death of Jacob Sansom. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Court of King's Bench Justice Eric Macklin granted the 34-year-old 33 months credit for time already served.

While noting that Anthony's prospect of rehabilitation is high, Macklin said the sentence needed to reflect the tragic consequences of the crime.

"Jacob Sansom and Maurice Cardinal were also pillars of their communities," the judge said. "They were hunters and teachers for their families as well as their communities"….”

The father, Roger Bilodeau, has been denied full parole for not accepting that his actions were 'vigilantism', among other reasons.
"The harm to the victims' family and the larger community has been nothing short of devastating, ongoing and profound," the parole board is also quoted.

Some disturbing quotes from members of the Bilodeau family, MOO

May the family and friends of the victims find support and a sense of safety, JMO
