I hope that the younger one was too young to take it in, but in any case, over time, they will know what happened. Knowing that one of your parents killed your other parent must be heart-crushing. Hopefully the kids are with someone who loves them and will let them know that they are valued.

Late to hear that he pleaded guilty. I guess he figured there was overwhelming evidence tying him to the crime including his lighter with his initials on it. How a fire captain thought dousing the car in gas was a good idea is beyond me!

TBH I had stopped following this case after the guilty plea but curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to know the sentence he received. The sentence was life with no parole for 20 years. JS was also ordered to have no contact with his children until they reach 18 years of age. Ashley's father gave a victim impact statement.

Thanks for the update. This was such a cruel, cynical crime, and one with some personal significance. There seems to be a strong support network around the children and the no-contact order is interesting.
