Are there any cases where people paid a ransom and DID get released? I know you won't get a 'refund' when they finally get arrested, and they always do. I think it was more of a 'pay us back the money he owes' rather than a ransom. IMO

I know there have been some cases yes, though I can't recall names at the moment.
Man it's so sad that these talented young people end up getting involved in drugs. He was really going places. I am not sure how police can say that isn't involved in his abduction... maybe they know where the other defendants were? Odd.

Where did they get the uniforms and why did they even bother to wear them? speculation.

"The abductors arrived dressed like police officers. One of them went to the SUV and took out a bag, which Allison says most likely contained money.
When they took off, he went back into the SUV and chased them but was at a disadvantage after he says he lost a contact lens.
"They knew what they were doing, obviously. Every turn was pretty much calculated. They waited for traffic, waited to lose me, and then I lost them. That's probably something that will haunt me for the rest of my life."
Investigators say Allison was last seen being 'escorted' into a dark Dodge Caravan with tinted windows. (Toronto Police Service)

“The kidnappers had wanted some ransom money, so he made arrangements to drop it off for them, hopefully in exchange for his brother. But unfortunately, the exchange didn’t go down as it was supposed to, so he never got his brother back. They got the money and got away” Boreland told me."
Kijhai continues to delve deeper into the harder hitting questions from their story, “When I was interviewing Omar’s best friend, Jemaine, he started to cry after I asked him ‘where do you think Jammar is now?'” and because I knew Jammar – I started to cry too.
“When I was interviewing the parents as well, I asked the mom ‘On the day Jammar had been taken, where were you?’ and she began telling me, and slowly she started breaking down and I cried too.” Kijhai finishes.
In order to bring back some happiness, the crew asked the parents to go back to the beginning and remember the good times, such as how they felt when they first found out they were having twins.
One of the heaviest moments during production was when the crew took Omar back to the scene of the attempted ransom exchange. It was both a touchy thing to approach, but could also be a healing process. During the time that they prepped their equipment, Kijhai sat with Omar and explained the scene, and he was visibly anxious, snapping a band he wears on his wrist the entire time they filmed.

On October 6, 2020, Hamilton Police attended another location within Windermere Basin Park where human remains were discovered. These remains were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Further testing, including dental records, has identified the human remains as 26-year-old Jammar Allison of Toronto. The investigation to date has determined Mr. Allison is the victim of a homicide

Have there been anymore kidnappings similar to these 2? Was there a ransom demand from the people who took Lu? Was it paid? How did he escape, or was he let go? TIA
