I was wondering same thing, but too tired to look up the VW shaggin wagon

i think there may be a coincidence here the guy on cps fb page said a beige vw... now i dont know, he says its a station wagon. vw station wagons are usually quite old, but go look up a beige vw tiguan and to a lesser extent touareg, both could be perceived as an older landrover looking thing to some one who dosnt know jack about cars
also colors match gold beige... under a street lamp they look identical

Depending on one's familiarity with vehicles.. I think it would be easy for someone to say a 'station wagon' is an SUV.. because.. really?? Do they even *have* station wagons any more? So that is quite possible, and.. seems the coloring could also be somewhat of a match to that other van?

ETA Okay.. van.. suv.. station wagon.. they're all the same to me, who also knows jack about names and types of vehicles.. I call my jeep a 'car'.

Authorities got a call at about 3:30 a.m. this morning to 16 Ave. and 5 St. where they found a woman lying in the road.

She is described only as middle-aged.

The victim in the above hit-and-run case was "in her 30s", which i don't consider middle-aged

i was driving by this morning before it was all cleaned up on my way to drop off some friends... its so sad to see the body cover,
its maybe a 5-10 min drive away
i dont think its related, its the main highway through the city from bc to sask
happened right across the street from one of our most busy fast food venues...

You must be looking at a different link other than the ones you provided. Both links you provided are identical and there is nothing about her being middle-aged (there are references to "middle of the westbound lane" and "middle of the road" but no middle aged).

Are you perhaps thinking "middle of the road" is just this side of "over the hill" ??

i will confirm local radio this morning said she was estimated in her early 30's but sounded more like a guess than anything

A 10-15 minute drive. I doubt they are related. I think this hit and run was a result of St. Paddy's day drinking and driving.

Now they are saying the hit and run victim is believed to have been only 16 years old! A teen living on the streets. How sad for her family. The family is expected to speak today.. they are to attend the morgue to identify.

That has to be a nightmare for that family as they had to identify her from a photo as she had no identification with her.....((RIP))....very sad.

I talk to myself (and sometimes sing 80s music as well) all the time on these threads lol! Your post made me laugh, it was pretty funny and I had to respond.

Yes, very disturbing.. as she was lying in the road, but apparently alive, before the taxi came upon her and ran her over, killing her and fleeing. So once again, it brought me to wonder if something happened to her beforehand which could have been similar to that other cyclist woman who was run down and brought into the offending vehicle for sexual purposes. I wonder what happened to this teenager for her to be lying in the road beforehand. Police said she was alive up to the point of being run over, and being run over caused her death, but if a body is battered and god knows what else, after being run OVER by a car, how will they tell which possible injuries she may have had *before* the vehicle struck her. Was she also brought into a vehicle for assault purposes and then thrown out? Did someone otherwise hurt her and leave her barely alive, only to then become unconscious on the road? They are doing drug testing on the girl's body. I hope they are not being close-minded about examining her body for potential injuries suffered prior to impact.

Looks like another woman was picked up and assaulted, close to where JRN disappeared and that other woman was hit by a car and assaulted...


Investigators believe the women accepted a ride from a man near 17 Avenue and 36 Street S.E., sometime between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. When the woman realized the man was driving her to an unknown location outside of Calgary, she asked for him to take her home.

It was at this time the man assaulted the woman, causing multiple facial injuries. There is no evidence the woman was sexually assaulted.

The suspect in this case is described as a black man, approximately 40 years old, with short hair. He was driving what the victim describes as a silver, four-door sport utility vehicle.

I was sleuthing on another case yesterday re a beige Nissan and couldn't believe how some colours are really hard to describe .. with some beiges looking goldie beige, some silvery beige, some taupy beige. Ugh ... what happened to just plain old boring beige? So yes, in the dark, add in the fear factor, and could be hard to distinguish.
