I was sleuthing on another case yesterday re a beige Nissan and couldn't believe how some colours are really hard to describe .. with some beiges looking goldie beige, some silvery beige, some taupy beige. Ugh ... what happened to just plain old boring beige? ;) So yes, in the dark, add in the fear factor, and could be hard to distinguish.
Especially some of the new metallics.

Then we have the type of vehicle - SUV could be mistaken or described as a "wagon" or even minivan.

If this is possibly related, someone should be checking out the area in Chestermere where this latest victim was taken. For those non-Calgarian's, it is east of the city. There is a ton of open fields and a lake.

Looks like another woman was picked up and assaulted, close to where JRN disappeared and that other woman was hit by a car and assaulted...

Investigators believe the women accepted a ride from a man near 17 Avenue and 36 Street S.E., sometime between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. When the woman realized the man was driving her to an unknown location outside of Calgary, she asked for him to take her home.

It was at this time the man assaulted the woman, causing multiple facial injuries. There is no evidence the woman was sexually assaulted.

The suspect in this case is described as a black man, approximately 40 years old, with short hair. He was driving what the victim describes as a silver, four-door sport utility vehicle.

_____

The vehicle description is close to the other one - Silver could be mistaken in the dark.
Mid 20’s middle eastern man vs. 40 year old black man... suspect descriptions are off a bit. Panic and head trauma can cause memory issues for sure...

... but both victims were allowed to get away although basically being at the mercy of the perp. JRN, hasn't reappeared hours after her disappearance... the MO just isn't the same. Related? Enough to look at, but seemingly not related.

The custody hearing is the red flag for me...

Sorry to quote myself, but this is really getting bizarre in regard to the teen killed by the cab. In the newspaper article linked below, it says this, which makes it even weirder! (BBM):

The victim, identified by family as Tyla Chipaway, was already laying on 16 Ave. N.E. when she was hit by a westbound vehicle, said Stacey, and police also found a relative laying in the street about a block north around the same time.

“Why she was lying down in the roadway, I couldn’t say,” said Stacey.

“But she was and she was alive just prior to (being hit).

Another hurdle for investigators, said Stacey, is that the relative has no memory of what happened.

“There are some questions we don’t have answers to,” he said.

Yes, very disturbing.. as she was lying in the road, but apparently alive, before the taxi came upon her and ran her over, killing her and fleeing. So once again, it brought me to wonder if something happened to her beforehand which could have been similar to that other cyclist woman who was run down and brought into the offending vehicle for sexual purposes. I wonder what happened to this teenager for her to be lying in the road beforehand. Police said she was alive up to the point of being run over, and being run over caused her death, but if a body is battered and god knows what else, after being run OVER by a car, how will they tell which possible injuries she may have had *before* the vehicle struck her. Was she also brought into a vehicle for assault purposes and then thrown out? Did someone otherwise hurt her and leave her barely alive, only to then become unconscious on the road? They are doing drug testing on the girl's body. I hope they are not being close-minded about examining her body for potential injuries suffered prior to impact.

A relative of Jessica's was laying in the road a block away from Jessica? I don't even know what to say other than I now understand the concern whether this is related to other attacks.

Yes, sorry, just to clarify, that article was in regard to the teen who was run over by a 70 year old cab driver while she was lying on the road. We spoke about the recent car incidents in this thread only because it is a possibility, however unlikely, that Jessica could also have come upon foul play in a manner similar to the woman riding her bicycle who was purposely struck down by a man in an SUV type vehicle for the purpose of nabbing her and then sexually assaulting her. Then this other incident ocurred within a short time after that, when a cabbie ran 'over' this 16 y/o girl who was already lying in the road, who could potentially also have been assaulted, sexually or otherwise, prior to her 'live' body lying in the road. And now MSM reports that this teen's relative was ALSO lying on the road nearby?? Bizzzarro, man! Now are we all clear as mud?

I had not seen this article from Mar 20th before. This lady was picked up very close to where Jessica went missing http://globalnews.ca/news/1895181/assault-victim-found-along-trans-canada-highway-near-chestermere/

bbm

Investigators believe the woman had accepted a ride from an unknown man in Calgary near 17th Avenue and 36th Street Southeast sometime between 4 a.m. and 6:30 p.m..

When the victim realized the man had driven her outside of the city, she asked him to take her home.

That’s when police say he attacked her. The woman suffered numerous injuries to her face. Police do not believe she was sexually assaulted.

Investigators are looking for a man who is black and approximately 40 years old. He has short hair and was driving a silver SUV.

Are the above 2 assaults the same assaults, or different ones? I can't tell by the areas. In the one article it says a man was arrested.

They are different assaults. The 1 from the article from March 20th is very close to where Jessica went missing. The article from today is farther away ,close to downtown.
