Using the alternate spelling of "Stephen," I found this Missing poster from January 2002. It cites the date of his disappearance as May 1, 2001. This discrepancy is also noted on Canada's Missing. I wonder what's up with that. We're talking anywhere from two weeks to a month!

Many times I wonder if the discrepancy in the "date of disappearance" lies in when the MP was last seen / date of last contact vs. the date they were reported missing. So maybe he went missing in April but was reported missing in May? I see this as a common occurrence, although not saying this is the case here. It similar to how some agencies have "location last seen" vs. "where they are missing from" so it varies.

But yeah, agreed, often times these discrepancies are always among the different investigating agencies. If there is only one original police report filed, shouldn't all agencies have the same source? I often like to try to find newspaper articles if possible to help clear up these types of things. Especially when it's regarding a date. Good observation! Thanks for sharing.
