So much of the community near and far are coming out daily to help search. Even someone from BC is making their way up. It’s heartwarming.

Seeing the parents pain is just honestly so hard. They want their baby home so badly. ❤️

Sigh. No baby boy yet. A large group is going out to search today. Fingers and toes crossed Kaden comes home today with all our other babies out there.

Early reports mentioned mom went to get cigarettes. :(
It matches what I’ve heard as well. I’m not sure what article it was but a few early on had said it.

imo he's in the lake and the land search is unnecessary. he will surface eventually or divers will find him when the ice melts.

I have not followed this story, but I am just curious as it sounds from the news reports that she was returning from going to get cigarettes. I wonder if she had driven successfully through the barricade on her way into town, and then on the way back did not make it through? Generally, when people live in the country there is one route into/out of town, so I was just wondering. Terrible story, I cannot imagine being in this family's shoes.

there are two main routes to the house from the store in grand valley. she took the shortest, most direct one.

Okay so it is possible that she took the other route on the way there, explaining why the river was not an issue on the way into town.

45 days later, OPP says search for Kaden Young has uncovered few signs of missing toddler

The OPP says few signs of Kaden Young have been discovered by searchers as the tireless effort to find the missing toddler lost to the Grand River reaches its 45th day.

While several items that were inside the van that night he was swept into the raging waters have been recovered, Dufferin OPP Const. Paul Nancekivell had little to report when asked whether any of the clothing Kaden was reportedly wearing at the time have been found.

“Not to my knowledge, that anything has been located,” Nancekivell said, reiterating that details about what the child was wearing that night are being withheld from the public as part of the OPP's ongoing investigation.

Despite the effort of thousands of civilian searchers in the last six weeks, Nancekivell said few signs of Kaden have been found. With Friday, April 6, marking day 45 in the search, volunteers continue to scour the banks of the Grand River and the OPP plans to bring its dive team in once the weather co-operates.

“There is still ice in certain areas, particularly down by the Belwood Lake area, around the bridge and the Shand dam, there is still ice floe there,” Nancekivell said, estimating the OPP’s dive team could return within the next two weeks.

The OPP’s investigation into the incident is ongoing. Nancekivell said any tips received by police are being forwarded onto the OPP’s crime unit, which is co-ordinating the investigation.

“They are the one-half of the investigation. I’m kind of the other half in terms of keeping the public updated as to what we’re doing resource-wise,” he said. “Once he is found, there are different things that have to be tied up in terms of concluding the investigation.”

Hey redheadedgal. Just curious on what makes you think thta? I have been out to search and it is VERRRRYYY overwhelming. For numerous reasons I do hope he is in the water, what makes you think he is?

Yeah thats very odd. Surely makes it easier to be able to keep an eye out for say a red tshirt etc

Maybe it’s to preserve what they know. Just in case someone is doing something sinister. ( I don’t think that is happening) or to ensure it’s not the main focus. Say if we are looking for a red shirt is that maybe all people will be looking for? Colours could fade and sadly his clothes could be torn off by now. Just some thoughts on maybe why. I’m probably way off though.

Bring Kaden home- start helping Mother Nature.

I read in one article that they actually did not know what he was wearing because they had not interviewed the mother. Not sure if that is still true. Will try to find a link.
