Karen Cunningham is Caucasian and she stands at about 5'10, weighs about 150 pounds with shoulder-length straight blonde hair and blue eyes.

She was last seen wearing a light coloured sweater and she drives a black Mazda 3 from the 2010 model year.

Anyone with information in regard to Cunningham's whereabouts should call the Woodstock Police Service at 519-537-2323.

Woodstock police were asking the public to avoid a south-end intersection Friday because of an investigation two nearby merchants say is related to a missing persons case.

Doesn't sound good.

Appears from the above article they may have found her vehicle, hence why LE are asking people to avoid the area of Mill Street and Sixth Avenue in south Woodstock which was blocked off around 1 pm. Witnesses saw items being taken from the vehicle by investigators.

Few details are known at this time, but in a press release the Woodstock Police Service said there is an “ongoing police presence” in the area of Mill Street and Sixth Avenue.

Speaking to CTV News London, police said a grim discovery was made by officers on Friday.

“Upon the arrival they discovered there was a body within the vehicle that was vital signs absent,” said Deputy Chief Nick Novacich of the Woodstock Police Service.

Woodstock police located the body of Karen Cunningham inside her parked Mazda 3 near the intersection of Mill Street and Sixth Avenue, in the city’s southwest, early Friday. The Woodstock woman was reported missing the day before.

Tuesday, Woodstock police announced that investigators are now treating her death as suspicious.

“Our investigators are continuing to work diligently on this investigation,” police Chief Rod Wilkinson said.

“It’s still active. (People) must understand that these types of investigations are labour-intensive. There is a lot of work to do in regards to tracking Ms. Cunningham’s movements, where she would be in the last number of days,” he said.

“Investigators have to speak with family, friends and acquaintances to learn more about Ms. Cunningham,” Wilkinson said, adding, “we owe that to the families.”

On Monday, investigators were seen searching and collecting items from a residence on Mill Street, not far from where Cunningham’s body was found.

Court records show the residence belongs to Cunningham’s former partner, who was released from custody Monday on an unrelated charge.

The 40-year-old man was arrested last Friday on suspicion of failing to comply with a release order not to communicate with Cunningham in early January, according to court records.

Court records show he is also charged with mischief and assault in relation to allegations involving Cunningham in Woodstock on Nov. 19 last year and allegedly failing to comply with a release order not to communicate with her in December.

Release orders not to communicate are meaningless and ineffective against violent partners. Women in abusive relationships cannot rely upon the legal system to protect them. :(

Is a release order the same as a restraining order.?

''The dense layer of fog surrounding the “suspicious” death of Karen Cunningham has taken on the opacity of pea soup.''

''By Tuesday, the cops were calling her death “suspicious.”

A week later, Woodstock Police were making a plea for more information but still offering little clarity. Remember, Karen Cunningham is now dead 12 days.''

Beyond “suspicious” and a few other red flags, no one is saying Cunningham was murdered.

Crime-ravaged city dwellers often see the quiet, tree-lined streets of Ontario’s small towns as a sanctuary from the social and economic ills strangling the life out of our metropolises.

But beyond the spacious Victorian homes with their white picket fences, nowhere now seems immune to big-city violence.''
