Toronto woman issues desperate plea after her husband 'disappears'
"TORONTO -- For 15 days, Aimee Jankowski has awaited word about her husband after he went missing.

"He just disappeared," she told CTV News Toronto on Wednesday.

Aimee has been with her husband, Karol Jankowski, for 19 years and the couple married 12 years ago. She says not only is Karol her best friend, but he’s also her primary caregiver.

"I have cerebral palsy and he has always done anything for me," she said.

On April 6, Karol went to work for his usual 7 a.m. shift. His wife says he normally returns home around 3:30 p.m.

"He texted me at 3:30 on Tuesday and he said he would see me shortly. Like he was just around the corner, and never came home."

''Aimee said in the lead-up to his disappearance, no one in their immediate circle noticed any unusual behaviour on Karol's part''.

Toronto woman issues desperate plea after her husband 'disappears'
''She says for her husband to just vanish is completely uncharacteristic.

"He's very dependable," she said. "Any time he says he'll be somewhere, he's there. He would never not show up for me."

Banking records show Karol was at the Stockyards Home Depot at Keele and St. Clair — just five minutes from home — at 3:15 p.m. on the day he went missing. But the 39-year-old has not been seen since.

"He's never not come home," Aimee said.

Karol is described as being six feet tall, 190 pounds, and clean shaven with short blonde hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans and was driving a blue 2007 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle’s license plate is CCNH 573 and has a stick figure family decal on the back window.

Family and friends, along with Toronto Police, have been looking for Karol since, but with no success.

"Everyone who knows him loves him and everyone who knows him wants him to come home and nothing — if he's in trouble — nothing is so bad that we can’t fix it," Aimee said.

Investigators say they are "concerned for his safety" but they have had no leads.

Anyone with any information or who may have seen Karol or his vehicle over the past two weeks is asked to contact police, or Crime Stoppers, if they want to remain anonymous.''

Bizarre. I know it seems like nitpicking but the timeline is a bit odd. So he makes a purchase at Home Depot at 3:15 (as per bank records). If he got in his car and went straight home (5 mins away) he would’ve gotten there around 3:20 (or 3:25ish factoring in traffic). But he texts his wife at 3:30 saying he’ll see her soon. If he’d left HD at 3:15, why would he text her 15 mins later? It seems unlikely he just sat in his car for 15 mins before texting her. Maybe he made another stop somewhere... or went to meet someone?

I’m very familiar with that Home Depot/part of St Clair and it’s a busy location. And I know for a fact there’s a traffic cam at that corner. People don’t just disappear from a busy intersection. I wonder if they can track his car’s activity to see if he headed in the direction of home when he left the HD parking lot? And I wonder what he purchased.

It seems like the police have no new leads to explore. IMO there are quite a few possibilities as to his fate. Voluntary missing being one, either to start a new life or to end it. Accident appears less likely due to the short distance and busy area. Since his car is also missing, are there license plate readers installed in in various parts of town that could have detected it?

Maybe he couldn't handle being a full time carer.

So, he was last seen at 12:30pm at Keele St + Sheppard Ave W area, but “bank records show” he was at the Stockyards Home Depot at Keele and St. Clair at 3:15pm. Do they have him on the surveillance cam at HD to know for certain it was he who made a purchase?

So many questions:

Is Keele St + Sheppard Ave W his workplace? Where was he between 12:30 and 3:15?

As @Number8 wondered, what was the HD purchase? Was it something unusual, or something that would seem usual and expected for his life at home?

What about his phone—seems he had it at 3:30pm when he texted his wife to say he’d be home soon. Did LE attempt to trace his route through his phone?

I share the same concern as @TootsieFootsie regarding being caregiver for his wife. It is a very hard job, plus he was working, too. He could be exhausted and stressed, and be a reason to be voluntarily missing.

Did he leave work at 12.3opm? Possibly lunch time and then not return.
Do they actually have visual evidence of him at 3.15pm or is it only a bank record?
Could someone else have used his bank card and sent the message to his wife?
All very mysterious IMO

His missing poster shown in CTV News video states "last seen in his vehicle" and last known location HD at 3:15.

A private fb group has been created by his wife and her friend in order to help finding him. They say there's a reason for privacy. I'm wondering if it's because they don't want him to read in case he left voluntarily?

Help find Karol Jankowski, missing since April 6th/21

I must agree that they must know what was purchased at HD, and the fact that wasn’t made public along with the fact that it was confirmed to be him via CCTV, is odd.

Whether someone else could have used his Interac card depends on the value of the transaction and on how he paid. Apple Pay needs a fingerprint, swipe needs the PIN, tap pay doesn't need anything - but the purchase limit for tap pay is very low. I'm sure Home Depot had cameras, though.

The police likely have the area of his last ping (at or after 3:30pm). It would be interesting to know where that is relative to Home Depot and his home. At some point he must have turned off his phone.
