The families of Kimberley Amero, Chris Metallic and Angela Breau continue to look for answers years after their loved ones vanished. SUBMITTED
''It’s been 40 years since Kimberley Amero told a group of friends she’d be right back before vanishing without a trace.
Just days away from her 16th birthday in the summer of 1985, Amero was at the Atlantic National Exhibition at the Saint John Exhibition grounds with her younger sister, Tammy Raynes.

“I was just the kid tagging along with the older sister,” Raynes said.

Because she was grounded, Raynes had an early curfew and had to leave the fair before her sister, who walked her to the bus stop with her friends.

Raynes didn’t know it would be the last time she’d ever see the sister, who she described as her best friend and a mother figure who was always there for her younger siblings.

“She took care of all of us,” she said.
