According to the theory, it was the agent that made the stars, planets and life possible by giving mass to most elementary particles. Some gave it the nickname the "God particle."

Discovery of the Higgs would also complete Einstein's Standard Model of Physics. If it does not exist, scientists would have to search elsewhere for how particles gained mass and why they are not merely shooting aimlessly through the universe.

The weight of Higgs particles found at Fermilab was consistent with those detected at the more powerful particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider, at the CERN research center near Geneva, Switzerland.

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is hot on the trail of the Higgs boson and hopes to gain proof of the particle before its accelerator temporarily shuts down at the end of 2012 for an upgrade".

OBITUARY
Andrew E. Lange dies at 52; Caltech physicist
He was co-leader of an international team that produced a detailed image of remnants of the Big Bang showing the universe is flat. Snip>

He allegedly checked into a hotel on Thursday 01/21/2010 and the maid found him dead the next morning. (Fri., 01/22/2010).....same week Lachlan disappeared on Monday, 01/18/2010.

Dr. Lange had too many awards for such advanced studies in science to list them here.

He had three young sons....one would think he had a lot to live for. Yeah, police determined it was suicide.

"Former U.S. government scientist Stewart Nozette was once on the cutting edge of space exploration, but instead of resting on those laurels he will spend 13 years in prison for trying to sell some of his country’s most closely guarded secrets.

He once sketched on a napkin a concept for satellite technology that eventually helped confirm that there was water on the moon, but in 2009 Nozette sought to sell classified information to someone he thought was an Israeli intelligence officer but was an FBI agent in an undercover sting operation.

Nozette, 54, pleaded guilty last September to trying to provide classified information about U.S. satellites, early-warning systems, communications intelligence and other information to the agent who was posing as an Israeli Mossad agent".

Thank you, dotr. It is hard to imagine what desperate circumstances or ideology caused this man to throw away his life's high accomplishments. May he find peace.

Desperate circumstances? IMHO it allegedly looks more like ideology/religion. Couple snips from Stewart Nozette - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nozette was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 20, 1957,[3] to Helen and Morris Nozette.[7] He grew up in Chicago’s heavily Jewish West Rogers Park neighborhood.

According to the criminal complaint, Nozette told his espionage contact that his parents were Jewish,[7] and therefore claimed a right to return under Israel's Law of Return. He also asked allegedly for two million dollars and a passport.

"Iran has hanged a man it said was an agent for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad whom it convicted of killing one of its nuclear scientists in 2010, Iranian state media reported on Tuesday.

Tehran has accused Israel and the United States of assassinating four Iranian scientists since 2010 in order to sabotage its nuclear program which the West suspects is hiding Iran’s attempt to develop a nuclear weapons capability"

When I saw this picture today, couldn't help but think of Lachlan, and "The Sky's on Fire!" pictures on his website.

"'AC/DC virus' hits Iran nuke plants "

"In a blog post earlier this week, F-Secure Labs, which monitors spyware, phishing and other cyber threats, said a scientist working at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) sent “a series of e-mails” saying computer systems at the Natanz and Fordo nuclear facilities had been infected by a computer worm."

http://www.upi.com/Business_News/En...ts-Iranian-nuclear-plants/UPI-75211343298612/

"There was also some music playing randomly on several of the workstations during the middle of the night with the volume maxed out," the message, as translated by the lab, read. "I believe it was playing 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC."

"Nun breaks into U.S. nuclear bomb facility"
KNOXVILLE, TENN. - A U.S. magistrate judge on Friday ordered the release pending trial of an 82-year-old nun and another anti-nuclear activist charged with breaching security fences at one of the most sensitive U.S. nuclear facilities, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where weapons-grade uranium is kept. Bit of a nasty habit she's got there ;)

Well, it certainly seems that working with any nuclear facility in whatever capacity is not very good for one's health:

Two victims in French Alps murder case have connections to the nuclear industry.

http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2012/9/6/12538/19248

from:
http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2012/09/london-metropolitan-university/

Sylvain Mollier was “Employed for twenty years in the field of metallurgy ” at Cezus according to http://www.parismatch.com/Actu-Match/Societe/Actu/Sylvain-Mollier-la-mort-au-tournant-426743/

So it seems accurate to describe him as a nuclear materials specialist. He wasn’t a cleaner or accountant but a metallurgist working on nuclear fuel cycles.

Have to wonder who the primary target was in these killings. It seems that Iraqi born Mr. Al-Hilli was also employed in the nuclear industry at one time. Some interesting comments (and now defunct links?) at:

http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2012/09/london-metropolitan-university/

al Hilli’s work with the Iraqi nuclear program was under duress as a result of Saddam’s Husseins threats against his family, there is no evidence he did it willingly.
Once he fled to the UK he had a right to expect protection from Israel and yet his trip was without any from UK or French police despite his repeated requests for some. He knew he had been targeted for assassination by Israel to prevent his knowledge reaching Iran and yet there was no evidence that he had continued his work or that he was working with Iran, his trip to Tehran was for religious reasons to visit the city of Qom.

Lemme see ... Areva, Areva, oh yeah ... AECL, Sovka, Williams, etc.

Thanks, SB, good to see you here.
You've given links to some heavy-duty study. Must do that before commenting.
