Yes I agree, it seems their intention isn’t really to escape as much as it is to create attention. Even the RAV4 found near Gillam, what’s the point of setting it on fire on a First Nations reserve where flames might be sighted when it could just be pushed off an embankment into the bush, covered with brush and not discovered for weeks?

I think you hit the nail on the head, Misty. They’re not looking to escape and hide out, IMO, but to evade until they reach a destination where they can enact their final battle scene.

Reading this notice issued by the Fox Lake Cree Nation Chief, it sounds as if the RAV4 was found the same day as the RCMP announced the pair were suspects (Tuesday). It also confirms LE was informed prior to public release of the info. Very ambiguous though, I guess what’s most important is the RCMP have reason to believe they’re closing in.

I think hide and seek is part of their twisted game but in retrospect, I agree they are going to do something really psychotic to end it sooner or later if they aren’t caught.

I am amazed at the number of press conferences given so far....very rare for RCMP. But, yes they are tight lipped.

It is much the same in Australia. LE are very tight lipped on ongoing/current investigations. Maybe it is a commonwealth thing.

These damn things bite and leave an itchy itchy rash that can get infected. They call them noseeums because you just can't see him until after the bastards bite you.

'Tis their season here right now. We often call them May flies around here, currently in rural Arnprior, ON, but they are late this year. Pain in the butt they are. If these 2 are making their way, or even hunkering down in the bush right now --- these damn things will be driving them absolutely insane and may be enough to drive them out of the woods and, hopefully into custody.

I am originally from Ottawa and that’s the name I know them as “May Flies”. The teens suspects have probably never experienced these type of flies before lol. And, re insane, ummm well .....

Wow Vern, you are either up very late or up very early!

Yes you could be right. But the cops have also withheld information for a few days as well. For example the crime scene 50 km north of where the lone man was killed. Cops are investigating that spot and nobody is what they're doing at that spot. So the cops definitely pick and choose what information to let out. Hopefully if two young men are caught the police would let the public know right away. But the cops may take them into custody, interview, charge them with the couple's murder and who knows what other charges before telling public.

Not the way we work in Canada. No secret arrests /unannounced remands into custody. etc. It's just not done due to that leading to allowing for extra-judicious and illegal holdings. We've an open process in that regard.

RCMP have issued the warrant, I think only for the one murder thus far. I suspect that's because they have more/better evidence for that case at this point in time. The issuing of that warrant allows for their arrest and hold by local LE, municipal LE or Provincial LE or RCMP in any other province. It is also what will allow for their speedy extradition back to BC, where the warrant was issued, should they be taken into custody live.

Where you'll see Canada differ is that in, after they are in custody and remanded - the info flow will slow to an almost complete stop until any trial happens. When that trial happens, you won't see photos of these guys etc, you'll see mere sketches of them in court.

Anyone heard of an update or more information on the bearded man with the hat that was seen in the middle of the road at the van with Lucas and Chynna?
The police we're looking for who he was and his connection to the young couple.

I'm currently posted to Ottawa. Living here in Arnprior as it's half way between Ottawa/Petawawa. Let's hubby and I live together in the same house (he's also with the Army but is an Armoured guy).

We are officially on vacation - for three weeks. And the Emergency Broadcast that went out here a while ago woke me. I thought it might have to do with these two, but it's an Amber Alert.

Absolutely nothing. Some of the web sleuths have mentioned he could have been one of the suspects. If he wasn’t, I wonder if he has ever came forward.

I used to live in Edmonton Alberta until 2 years ago, but no more. And even in Alberta, we didn't do secret arrests/holds,

Thanks for info.
When I saw the picture to reminded me of Kam with a hat on. But the dude that was standing in the middle of the road was in a black Jeep Cherokee so that got crossed off my thoughts. He looks like hundreds of other people so he may just want to avoid the police and not want to deal with this whole situation so they may never know who he is.

Whoah! My head’s spinning from trying to keep up. Just when I think I’m on top of things, a new thread begins!
Must be about time for a new one, yeah … ?

I think these kids have no real idea of what they’re actually doing. No set plan at all. I wouldn’t be at all suprised the whole “thing” was initiated by Kam and the other kid was the weaker of the 2 and got dragged in deeper and deeper until he was way over his head. Kam probably had been fantasising about this for a while.
Won’t be long now …

The police don't have to tell the public anything really. And when a police officer arrests an individual without a warrant, they have the discretion to hold the person for up to 24 hours until charges are laid and they must be prepared to show cause as to why the person should be kept in custody before a Judge of the Court or Justice of the Peace. Police can also ask for an extension of the 24 hours.

I agree as to the "no set plan". I think they had a plan to do something like this, but I don't think they had any set plan aside from 'heading cross-country (perhaps on a spree)".

No one planning a cross-country spree or even just a plain old cross-country trip ends up in Gillam Manitoba as part of their great escape. Gillam is where you run out of real estate wherewith to hide for long.

BUT, they have a warrant. Their "show cause" is already done, signed and sealed. Not the same situation at all.

Even those simply taken into custody (arrested) without a warrant will be announced in the dailies, online registers as "taken into custody" or "remanded into custody pending a show cause hearing for 🤬🤬🤬 …"
