Toronto police have charged a man after an investigation into a trio of suspicious incidents involving children in The Junction area.

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in a Suspicious Incident investigation involving children.

Between Thursday, February 13, 2025, and Monday, March 3, 2025, police responded to three Suspicious Incident calls in the Annette Street and Pacific Avenue area and the Humberside Avenue and High Park area.
It is alleged that:

• on Thursday, February 13, 2025, two children were walking in the Annette Street and Pacific Avenue area
• the children were approached by an unknown male
• the male attempted to get their attention by calling out to them and asking them to accompany him to an unknown location
• the children were able to run away in the opposite direction to get away from the male

It is further alleged that:

• on Saturday, March 1, 2025, two children were walking in the Annette Street and Pacific Avenue area
• the children noticed an unknown male was following them
• the male tapped one of the children on the shoulder and told them to accompany him
• both children began shouting to attract attention
• one of the children was able to run away
• the male tried to block the second child's path, but the child was able to run towards a passerby for assistance

It is further alleged that:

• on Monday, March 3, 2025, a child was walking in the Humberside Avenue and High Park Avenue area
• the child was approached by an unknown male
• the male tapped the child on the shoulder and attempted to engage them in conversation
• the child pushed the male away and ran home

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, officers were patrolling the area as part of this investigation. The male was located and arrested.
Lucas Petrini, 34, of Toronto, was charged with:

1. 10 counts of Fail to Comply with Long-Term Supervision Order
2. two counts of Assault

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 301.
Investigators believe there may be more victims. An image of the accused has been released.''

Eighteen-year-old Lucas Petrini was ordered to remain in custody until a bail hearing on December 10th. He is in protective custody.'
''Not long after, police arrested Petrini, who now faces a number of charges including threatening to kill his alleged victim, kidnapping, possession of a weapon, and sexual assault.''

''According to police the nine-year-old was kidnapped at knifepoint on his way to school in Brampton Monday morning. His attacker managed to get the boy into a nearby home where investigators say he was repeatedly sexually assaulted over a six hour period.''

17 years ago, that earlier case. I wonder how much prison time he actually served? Not enough by the sounds of it. A very dangerous person who should not be free to roam the streets.

Parents on edge after suspicious child incidents in The Junction

Concerned about Lucas Petrini's past and the current allegations, the parent council at Keele Street Public School issued a statement.

''Three suspicious incidents involving children in The Junction neighbourhood and the arrest of a 34-year-old man with a disturbing criminal history have parents in the area on edge.

Laura, a mother of two in the west end of Toronto, said a recent email from her child’s school was frightening and incomplete.''

“We urge you to take immediate and decisive action to ensure Mr. Petrini is not released back into the community … we cannot afford to take risks when it comes to the safety of our children,” the letter reads in part.''
