A resident of Edson wondered whether the couple's troubles began even before leaving St. Albert.
There's always the possibility of perps getting into the m/home prior to their leaving. Probably not at the pumps as they gassed up right on the main highway through St. Albert and there was surveillance. If McCann's had everything ready to leave in the morning their m/home and SUV would have been parked already attached on the street in front of their home would be my guess. Anyone could have gotten in and hid, knowing this m/home was going to be heading off down the highway.
Bret also said as his father had been a long haul trucker, would not have stopped as soon as Edson and certainly not at that campground. So somewhere between leaving St. Albert for the 1 and 1/2 hour drive, something happened to them very likely. First the m/home was parked in stall 8 and shortly after it was found burning down a cutline. Both vehicles had been seen on the move prior to the fire. That was 2 days after leaving St. Albert. It seems to me that the perps were in control of both vehicles at that time, using the SUV to escape.
They know their way around Edson for sure, at least the backwoods.
