Deceased/Not Found Canada - Lyle, 78, & Marie McCann, 77, Alberta, 5 July 2010 #2 *T. Vader guilty*

 • #341
The disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann is so bizarre. It's like they vanished into thin air. I don't remember hearing or reading even one report of any traveller seeing the McCanns driving along the highway in their big MH towing their SUV. Makes me wonder if it was a random attack, or did any of the McCanns know any of the perps in any way? I'm still remembering Vader's son or stepson saying last summer that for some reason the McCanns looked familiar to him.

Not related to the McCanns, though seems there are lots of properties being burned in that area, even now that Vader is in jail.

Body found in burned garage
EDMONTON - The mysterious death of a man in a Strathcona County garage fire has taken a new twist, with Mounties pleading for public tips about two missing men with links to the rural property.

Strathcona County RCMP do not yet know the identity of the dead man, whose charred remains were discovered in the Dec. 19 detached garage fire east of Edmonton.
Henry says in the wake of the fire, investigators are now looking for information on the whereabouts of two men associated with the property, 42-year-old Dino Richard Kaz of Edmonton and Brent Abbott, 36, of Saskatoon.
Mounties are also looking for a green Ford F-150 pickup truck with the Saskatchewan licence plate, 207 HTR.

I don't believe that not one person had seen it, rather that we are just not being informed of it, because it might jeprodize the case. They just need to find Lyle and Marie.

Such a waste of human life.

Edmonton couple in their 70s missing for almost four weeks
Published On Fri Jan 21 2011

<snips>

Perry Kit Wong, who is 72, and his common-law wife, Eloise Fendelet, who is 71, were last seen by a friend Dec. 27.

The two are known as an active couple who like to travel.

But after they failed to return to work Jan. 3, friends and family made inquiries on their own and eventually contacted police.

“What raised alarm bells for friends and co-workers is that typically they would make plans well in advance and arrangements to take [care] of their business and employees and pets while they were away. It’s out of character for them.”

Gurney said all the vehicles belonging to Wong and Fendelet are accounted for. While police have no reason to believe the couple has come to harm, “we consider everything as a possibility.”

Gurney also said there is no apparent link to the McCann case.

Suspect Travis Vader, who was arrested in August, remains in custody on unrelated charges.

There is a $60,000 reward for information leading to the McCanns.

As the spotlight shifts to the disappearance of a newly missing elderly Edmonton couple, one family is still set on solving a similar case.

But after meeting with police investigators about the case last week, Bret was told that a recent media blitz in St. Albert last month sparked some “useful tips” in the case, but no details were offered.

“The lead investigator said he was more positive now about the case,”
said Bret. “That was certainly gratifying to hear.

RCMP Spokeswoman Doris Stapleton had little to say about the case other than the fact it’s still being actively investigated.

“They (police) are more positive now than they were before Christmas. It means we need to stay patient,” said Bret. “I know that something awful and terrible happened to my parents. I am not really driven by revenge against whoever did this, but we need closure. We need to know what happened.”

Hope those "useful tips" will help LE find out what happened to the McCanns and bring them back home, and find ALL who were involved in their disappearance.

Anyone remembers a "media blitz" in St. Albert last month?

Could it be the Dino Richard Kaz and Brent Abbott case posted in earlier posts?

I don't think this Rupert guy who has preyed on the elderly right across Canada, has been caught, yet.

Dotr, This is amazing information, guess I shouldn't be too surprised. This Rupert fellow, sounds like he has left quite a trail behind him. It is what is ahead of him, that has me wondering. Has he changed his MO? Has he moved West? Con, .... but could he be doing more these days? Quite a stretch, but one never knows, maybe he has out grown his comfort zone, from the past. Maybe he wants more.

I believe, that this is a very positive, note. We should see some news soon.
They must have found a lead....

Starting on February 1st, and advert has been running in the Edmonton Sun and it is there again today. Put in by someone named Alex, as is stated in the ad, and a phone number, Stating that if the McCann family wants to know where their parents are, they should contact, Alex. I will post the link below.
When I search the number, it is a land line in the Red Deer, Alta area, Telus is the carrier. Someone on another blog has called the police, who say they are aware of it, and that according to them it is part of a blitz, rather odd, so don't know if that holds water. They have also stated that they called the number in the advert and spoken with this man named Alex, who says he only wants to talk to Bret, not the police, and actually wants to meet with Bret McCann, in the Minnow Lake area, by themselves. That sets off alarm bells. According to the person who says they called him, he told them he has a brother named Vic, who lives in the Peers area and has a big cattle ranch.
So I checked for just the name Vic, in the Peers area and came up with three V's and three different surnames. One Betcher, Kerr, and Cripps. When I search in the Red Deer area for those surnames, I come up with all three, but the one thing that stands out it is a Cripps Cattle Company. Kind of makes me wonder, but I would think the police are all onto this. As they have emailed at least one person back to say that they are, aware of the advert and are onto it.

Announcements - Personal notice

This concerns the McCanns family. If they are interested in finding their mother and dad, call Alex 403-352-0158

Sounds very like another person in Red Deer who was trying to get money for saying where Owen Rooney is. Trouble is he was trying to milk the wrong cow as there is no money there to be had, as all went into the search for Owen and the family now rely on donations from the public so they can continue their search. I can't help but wonder if it is the same person.

New law helps with missing persons
Last modified: March 11, 2011 1:24
Alberta has introduced legislation that would force banks, phone companies and Internet providers to quickly provide personal information to police in missing person cases.

The data would have to be handed over even if there was no proof that the person was a crime victim.
..................
A recent case involves Lyle and Marie McCann of St. Albert, who were last seen on July 3 just outside of Edmonton, where police may have benefitted.

It took RCMP more than a week after that to get access to the couple’s bank and phone records because there was no proof that they were crime victims.

His bail hearing was in relation to theft, firearms and arson charges. Vader, 38, will remain at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
