The victim, 19-year-old Mélanie Cabay, was last seen on June 22th , 1994, around 1:45 am. She was walking back home from a friend's place on Basile-Routhier street in Montreal towards Belanger Street.

She was usually using public transit to commute this route. The body of this young student without history was discovered by a passerby on July 5th, 1994. She was in a wooded area off Highway 640 near Montée Dumais in Mascouche.
