The RCMP says reports of an armed suspect on the loose in the area of Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake has triggered a shelter-in-place order for part of the city of Cold Lake, Alta.
In a news release issued Monday morning, the RCMP said officers with its detachments in both Cold Lake and Bonnyville are involved in the manhunt.''

Residents within this area are asked to stay in your homes, lock your doors, and call 911 if you see anything suspicious. Individuals outside of this zone are asked to avoid the area.

'The suspect is described as:

• – Light complexion
  – 6 feet tall
  – Reported to be wearing a black hat, black jacket, white and black stripped shirt, blue jeans

Beyond Local: UPDATE - RCMP end Cold Lake 'Shelter in Place" - suspect still sought

Alberta RCMP are reporting that they have lifted the shelter place advisory in the CFB Cold Lake area. The advisory was put in place just before 8 am.

''The update was sent out four hours later, with RCMP officials saying they have conducted an extensive search, and no longer believe the suspect is in the area.

Police say the reported firearm has been recovered by police.

RCMP say they will be releasing further details when more information becomes available.''
