Fans fear for safety of roller derby star Melinda McCaffrey

Fans, friends and the ex-husband of Melinda McCaffrey, a well-known roller derby player in Toronto, are burning up social media Wednesday night in concern for the missing woman and in hope that she will be found okay. Nicholas Verlaine has tweeted concern for his former wife and asked anyone who has seen her to call 911. The Toronto Roller Derby has tweeted saying that one of its own is missing. Ms. McCaffrey was reported missing to Toronto Police Operations (see below) Wednesday evening. She was apparently last seen near Danforth and Greenwood Aves.

So little detail. No one I've spoken to today who is affiliated with Melinda knows anything more than what's been publicly shared. Adding a photo of a more casual-looking Melinda, found online. No way! How cool.. I live at Pape and Danforth I know a couple of people who live on Melinda's street and a few others who socialize with her. As Dushi mentions, this is getting zero airplay besides social media. There are enough people asking questions, though, that I expect we'll hear more sooner or later. I just hope that wherever Melinda is, she is okay and in control of the situation.

Hmmm i wonder what the circumstances were? Besides being missing, there is no info. I do wonder why the police fear for her safety.

Melinda's neighbour just emailed a bunch of us to say Melinda has been found safe! No further details at this moment. Will look for MSM link per rules once they are made aware...

The Toronto Police Service requests assistance locating a missing woman.

Melinda McCaffrey, 40, was last seen on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at 9:30 p.m., in the Coxwell Avenue and Danforth Avenue area.

She is described as 5'7", 150 lbs., black hair, green eyes. There is no clothing description available.
