'Missing' Kingston man charged in four Ottawa bank robberies

A Kingston man whose worried family reported him missing last month is now charged in a string of bank robberies in Ottawa between April and last Saturday.

That’s on top of the five Toronto robberies he’s also accused of committing over the past two years.

Robin Ditchburn, 53, was reported missing in November by his family, who were concerned for his wellbeing.

The Ottawa Police Service’s robbery unit has charged him with five counts of robbery in relation to four robberies. The robberies allegedly occurred on Montreal Road in Vanier on April 28, on Main Street in Old Ottawa East on June 19 and Nov. 8, and on Wellington Street near Parkdale Avenue on Dec. 8.

Toronto police said in a release that between Jan. 19, 2016, and Dec. 5, 2018, five banks were robbed in the area of Lawrence Avenue East from Morningside Avenue to Port Union Road.
