Even just a screenshot of the email she apparently received from the coroner would be good as confirmation. It just seems so odd to me to first announce an ID on a non-official Facebook page of all places.

But maybe I'm being overly skeptical. I'm still haunted by the years when I followed a similar-ish Doe case very closely on Reddit and there were fake troll posts in his dedicated subreddit every few months announcing his "official identification".

Weirdly the Facebook post where this was announced has commenting turned off. I don't follow this group as I don't use Facebook - is that typical there?
Commenting is turned off for people who haven’t been following the page for 24+ hours. I don’t know why.

EDIT: Nevermind, commenting is turned off for everyone this time. That’s weird. She usually doesn’t do that. Probably to stop people from asking for proof.

Probably to stop people from asking for proof.
What would the motivation be for withholding proof, though? There's nothing to gain from it. If the email contains personal info, it can easily be blacked out.

We can't post rumors here. But I hope when this "Doe" is identified, his story will be told, at least a little. I have wondered about his case. It's quite memorable.

I hope he really has been identified and hopefully his family can now mourn him. I will patiently wait for verification. This case has certainly struck with me as heartbreaking because of the lack of ID as well as his obvious emotional pain
