Mom wasn't dating (that I know of) at the time. But... it appears she had returned to the Etobicoke area with Nicole from another province in the time before the disappearance per some reports (I'd have to find the links again, but they're out there if you search for them). The daycare: mom couldn't leave the daycare kids to go look for Nicole so she waited til parents picked up their kids. She returned to working at the daycare pretty soon after Nicole disappeared, and yes... I believe the parents were interviewed.

Yes it is possible. I was making an unrelated point that Nicole was snatched maliciously or taken by someone she saw as trustworthy regardless of how she got out, nothing new i know.. No assumption here. Looking back this case since its been a long time reading i do believe there was a stair case in this building.

In my previous posts (earlier ones) i did state any perp or person involved in her disaperance was just as likely to escort her down the stairs because it would be an efficent way to hide her and get her out of the building, thus no one then gets to see her leaving the complex especially if you leave at the right time.

At one time i posted the outside possiblity that Nicole made it out of the building by herself and that someone nefarious was in the car park or surrounding area and snatched her since there was a lot of personal accounts of shady predatory trying to lure children away. Her disapearance happening very quickly.

For whatever reason LE think she was on the elevator, i personally think the elevator is more likely given the friend said the elevator went to the top floor but then came down "empty". If she took the stairs by herself its possible she was bored, its also possible she had an arguement with her mother and tried to run away from home?

In a previous post i also mentioned another idea that she was taken outside the building ie. perp waiting in a vehicle snatches her once they had seen her alone and isolated. Just think this is less likely that is all.. But i remember some possible eye witnesses in this case but the problem is we dont know how accurate they are.

Put yourself into the shoes of the perp, you are going to kidnap a child without being seen then take them somewhere or even move a deceased person out of the building undetected, how do you do it? The stairs is probably best since most people dont actually use them and no one sees anyone suspicious hanging around.

I used to live in an apartment complex with many floors and of all the times i used the stairs no one else was ever using them, to me this is why they make a lot of sense to move someone out of the building and to fabricate any story that you were not involved in their disapearance, worse no one sees the perp leave the complex.

Hopefully there will be some major discover in this case at some point but i think it is very unlikely given that any witnesses have probably long forgotten this day.

I'm still wondering if it was ever confirmed that one of her red canvas shoes was found in the elevator? If so, that might suggest why police think she was snatched from inside the elevator.

My name is Sherri W.
I have been trying to Email & even Posted on the Facebook Page about Nicole Morin and the Area and the day she Disappeared.
The post I made on The Fb page was there for almost 2 months.
Yet every time I pulled up the page to see if there were any response's to the huge amount of information that I gave on that post.
There was absolutely no response or anyone else ever posting anything on that page. Why?
So I pulled the post and then tried Emailing the information to the Crime Stoppers page.
I got an E-mail back saying that I was in the wrong place to make that post. ????.
I got the Email from some Lady. She said I had to call the Toronto Police.
But I don't want to do it over the phone, as I have Severe Anxiety when talking to Strangers on the phone.
So as to why I am trying so darn hard to get someone's attention somewhere about what I know.
But No One seems to care.
So I am hoping that being here, maybe someone else will know or care about this little girl, as much as I do.

Age at Time of Disappearance: 8 years old
Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 4'0; 51 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Brown hair; brown eyes.
Marks, Scars: Morin has a birthmark on the right side of her forehead and protruding ears. She has pierced ears.
Clothing: She was wearing a peach, one pieced bathing suit with colored stripes on the front, a green headband, red canvas shoes, and was carrying a peach colored blanket and a purple beach towel.

Circumstances of Disappearance</B>:
On July 30th, Nicole left her mother’s penthouse apartment in The West Mall, in Toronto's Etobicoke area, and vanished. There has been no trace of the 8 year old girl who was likely abducted moments after leaving the apartment in the Highway 427 and Rathburn Road area.
At 10:30am Nicole had gone to the lobby of the twenty story apartment building to pick up the mail. She returned to the apartment and got ready to go swimming with a playmate. Before leaving the apartment Nicole had spoken to a friend through the building's intercom and promised to be right down. The playmate waited about 15 minutes before buzzing the apartment again to find out why Nicole hadn't arrived. The two girls had arranged to meet in the lobby and go to a supervised swimming pool at the rear of the building.
About 11:00am Nicole said goodbye to her mother and left the apartment. No one has seen the girl since she closed the apartment door and walked into the penthouse hallway.

To be honest, its difficult for anyone here to help you, when we have no idea what information you may have about this case. If you think you have information pertinent to Nicole's disappearance, you absolutely SHOULD contact the police. Even if just to arrange to have an officer meet with you. It doesn't lend credibility when you want to say that you have info, but you don't want to call it in due to... anxiety. Imagine how much anxiety Nicole's family must have about this matter, and how many decades they've carried it for? Surely you can take a deep breath, and make the call if you haven't already?

I'd LOVE a look at that diary, AND any other drawings / writings she made in the months prior to her going missing. Kids drawings can be SUPER revealing, and can really give you a lot of insight into what they're thinking / imagining / dealing with. For example... google psychology of kids drawings. You're sure to get a lot of interesting links that talk about things like: asking a kid to draw a picture of their family. Look at where on the page they position people. How tall? How close are they on the page to anyone else? Do the depicted persons have feet? Hands? Smiles? Eyes? Some of these things when included or omitted can really give you pause!! I was really surprised by that line of research I did!! Wouldn't it be super interesting to see her drawings / writings in the months leading up to this event? School work would have been good to see too! I wonder if LE has any of her other writing / drawings etc?

I am so happy I found Nicole's story here. I was a child when she went missing. She lived 10 minutes from my home. I believe this crime was perpetrated by someone she knew.

Down the hall I believed people her mom knew shady characters. There were a lot of shady characters around her family and aquiantences.

she was in a relationship with someone at the time, from what I understand, and there were people that knew them and the family may have even been in the family and had an argument over money that lived down the hall, so ..lots of stuff to consider

It was also interesting to note that she moved in with some other man who wasn't named. It made me curious. Who was the dude? I hope police know and at least interviewed him. How'd she meet him? When did they meet? Did they know each other when her daughter disappeared? Also interesting, a year after she disappeared, apparently witnesses came forward to say they'd seen the child at various locations on the day in question (see screenshot). I wonder if they actually did see her on the fateful day, or whether they had seen her on some other day? Why didn't they come forward sooner? Mom apparently couldn't leave the unit because she had two babies in her care. It was 3pm when another child in her care reported to her that Nicole was nowhere to be found. This was hours after the friend meeting Nicole in the lobby reported that she had not arrived. Jeanette send the second child back to look again for her daughter, and as parents arrived to pick up their kids, she sent their parents to look for Nicole as well, to no avail.

I don't get any of it. Her daughter left the apt to meet someone in the lobby at 11am. At around 11:30am, the friend she was to meet buzzes up and tells mom Nicole hasn't come down yet... and mom basically blows her off saying she had left earlier as scheduled. Then, another child in Jeanette's care leaves the apt to go play and he returns at 3pm telling Jeanette that Nicole is nowhere to be found. She sends that kid back down to look - but STILL isn't that phased, and doesn't call police, or ask other adults (eg: the super to assist)?? Its actually not until much later that she finally asks the super's wife to contact police - somewhere I think around 6pm. So was that Nicole's normal pattern? Leave in the morning, and not be heard from again til around dinner hour?? What was Nicole's plan for lunch that day? What plans, if any had mom made for the kid to get snacks? Drinks? I've not found any suggestion that the child had packed these in the plastic shopping bag she carried her belongings in when she left the apartment that day so exactly what was the plan? How the hell does mom go *that long* without it raising serious alarm bells?

All these questions made me want to know more about Jeanette's older son who was taken by and subsequently raised by his biological father. What prompted him to take his son from Jeanette's care and custody? Was that done legally or did her son's father snatch him? How with the experience of already having lost a son, did she NOT hit a panic level even after 3pm when a second child reported Nicole was nowhere to be found?

I'm not accusing Jeanette of anything - I wasn't there. But the timeline sure leaves a lot more questions than it answers!

Per another Toronto Star article... Jeanette and Nicole had watched a show about missing children on television. I'm now curious to know which show that might have been. Could that be why Nicole had written in her diary that she was going to go missing? The article states that Jeanette had taught Nicole how to dial long distance as a result of watching that program. It really makes me wonder what the heck was going on. Friends came and went trying to comfort Jeanette. I'd love to know which friends and family. Who came, when did they come and what was their demeanour? I acknowledge there is no manual for how people ought to behave when someone is missing but I'd still be suspicious and I would like to know. This article also indicates that police went down to Jeanette's car with her in the parking garage to search the car and trunk with her. Did police have reason to think Jeanette might be hiding the little girl? Oddly an article adjacent to the one I'm discussing shows a quote from Jeanette saying: "I know someone's killed her".
Was that just a worried mom talking to the media? Or did she know or suspect more than she was willing to share just then? What do police know about this case that we do not?

In another article I've found, Jeanette apparently phoned the parents of the little girl Nicole was to meet earlier that day. She phoned around 3pm (which is, according to another article I've cited above) around the time another child reported to Jeanette that Nicole hadn't been seen all day. She says she wasn't worried because Nicole was usually gone with that little girl all day. There were reports that Nicole was seen in the lobby, then by the pool that day, but these were not substantiated by the lifeguard on duty at the time. Clearly the kid didn't meet her friend, and clearly she didn't make it home safely.

At one point in the search, police stated in the media they were sure they'd find Nicole within days - they even halted the search to focus on the investigative side. They refused to say what evidence had been found, or where it had been found. Another article indicated a headband had been found by a couple near Bradford which matched the description of what Nicole had been reported wearing when she vanished. It was later deemed unrelated to Nicole's case. But I wonder... how did they rule it out? I hope they did a DNA test on that thing!! What did they think they had that they thought might lead to them finding her and why didn't that lead pan out?

BBM - I don't have any problem accusing her - have always thought Jeanette is responsible for her daughters disappearance - likely the night before. Jmo.
