Man seen allegedly trying to gain entry to Leslieville homes at night wanted by police
''Toronto police are asking the public for help in identifying a man they believe to be involved in a prowl by night investigation in Leslieville.

In a news release issued Tuesday evening, police said that they have received reports of a man who has been 'targeting' a number of residences in the area of Dundas Street East and Leslie Street.

The man has been seen in the area in the evening and into the early hours of the morning trying to gain access to homes, police said.

On a few occasions, police said, the man has been seen travelling on a bicycle.

In surveillance video release by police, the man appears to be seen ringing a doorbell of a residence and waiting for someone inside to open the door.''

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance identifying a man involved in a prowl by night investigation.

It is reported that:

- a man has been targeting various residences in the Dundas Street East and Leslie Street area, also known as the Leslieville area

- the man is in the area in the evening, into the early hours of the morning,

- he is attempting to gain access to the homes

- on a few occasions the man has been seen travelling on a bicycle

The man is described as a 30 to 35-years-old, medium build, clean shaven, bald. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, knee length sports shorts with stripes on the side, black socks, and casual footwear.''

Gerard Silas Purcell, 40, of no fixed address is wanted for:

3. Criminal Harassment

He is described as 5'10", 180lbs with a medium build and is bald.

On Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 3:19 p.m., Gerard Silas Purcell, 40, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. four counts of Attempt Break and Enter
2. two counts of Prowl by Night
3. Criminal Harassment
4. two counts of Trespass by Night
5. Assault
6. Assault-Choking

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park Court, on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 10 a.m., room 501.''
