Drones used to help Coquitlam searchers find missing New Westminster woman
''Coquitlam Search and Rescue has been called out to aid in locating a missing New Westminster mom and is using a drone to aid in the search.''
Two drones, including a Mavic and an Inspire, will be used to photograph the Queensborough shoreline while Coquitlam SAR volunteers will conduct searches of green spaces in the area, located on the eastern tip of Lulu Island on the Fraser River.

Paul Baur of RPAS Consulting (right) will fly a drone to aid Coquitlam Search and Rescue in finding a missing New Westminster woman.
''Drones are an efficient and cost-effective way to support ground searchers, Coyle said.

''In addition to daytime searches, drones can also be equipped with special lights to work at night and can use infrared technology to aid in searches, according to Baur, who also trains people to use drones and is an official examiner for those seeking drone pilot certification.

Drones typically fly ahead of ground searchers and have equipment to relay images that search mangers can use to direct crews.''

Woman's disappearance hits Metro Vancouver family hard, daughter says - Vancouver Is Awesome
''At 7 a.m., Vanessa’s father Rishi came and woke her. Nirla wasn’t at work at 6:30 a.m., as usual.

At first they thought she might have gone to the gym, but they didn’t find her there.

Vanessa thought her mother might have been stressed about work and possibly just blowing off steam, so they didn’t contact the police until 3 p.m. The police came right away, she said.

Vanessa her mother work together at BC Hydro. She described her mother as a go-getter who is always doing something, who is respected at her job.

“My mom is the most hard-working person that I know,” Vanessa said. “She is the most determined person I know.”

She also helps others, and her disappearance has hit her colleagues hard, according to Vanessa.

“She helped a lot of people, not just with their careers but personally as well,” Vanessa said. “It hit coworkers the hardest because they’re where they are today because of her.”

Last year, Sharma won an award for being the best manager at BC Hydro, according to her daughter.

Sharma lives with her daughter, her son and her husband.''

maybe I misunderstood this- did they say the conditions were that the husband was not supposed to be within a two block radius of the family (sounds like they only recently lifted the conditions so he can talk to his children on the phone/social media). Yet dad was home the night mom goes missing.

New video footage aired this morning on local news. Looks like a neighbour's security cam with person walking a dog past camera and then returned moments later stopping to allow dog to sniff. Later appears to be a slender male walking by in the original direction 2 minutes later . No time signal on video but news says it was 0348. Question is where’s the family dog? If it’s back at home, she must have come back in too. Then gone out again? Is she the person walking the dog? Looks like open coat. Is that her common way of wearing. Just trying to confirm it was indeed her.

Video shows person walking dog around 4 a.m. on morning Nirla Sharma disappeared

  • CTV News Vancouver has now obtained exclusive surveillance footage time-stamped from the day of Nirla Sharma's disappearance. (CTV)

  • ''The footage was taken a few doors down from Sharma’s home.

The person in the video appears to stop across the street from the Queensborough Off-Leash Dog Area. About a minute later, they turn around and walk back in the direction they came from, toward Sharma’s home.

Two minutes later, another person can be seen walking up the street in the opposite direction.''
"Dad woke me up at seven and said, 'Mom's not home, where is she?' and I was like, 'I don't know,'” the 20-year-old told CTV News on Wednesday.

Her mother hasn’t been seen or heard from since. The dog, however, is safe at home, according to the New Westminster Police Department.''

I’d be interested to hear if the family thinks this is their mom and dog.

The pictures shared of Nirla appear to show her with a small to average build. The person walking the dog in the video seems larger to me. Almost looks male with the style of walk and size. What do others think?

IMO, both subjects in the video are males.

ETA: Nirla is 5'3" tall and 138 lbs.

My questions:
Who was at home that night? Sounds like her husband was not supposed to be there. Daughter, son, daughter's boyfriend, and the dog were there...was the husband?

When was the absolute last time she was seen, and when did everyone else go to sleep?

What do they mean by "heard the door chime"? One of those entry-alert chimes? Interesting that they would have one of those in the first place. Was it easy to disarm? Were there other doors that didn't chime?

All of her important things are at home. The dog is at home. Either she left willingly, or against her will. Given the recent DV charges... I wonder. Even adult kids usually can be blind to what's going on between their parents.

Okay one other thing I’m thinking about since watching this news video-

The daughter notes that her dad woke her up at 7 am and told her that her mom was not home. However, mom started work at BC Hydro at 6:30 am that day (as reported in other news articles already posted on this thread). I find it curious that the husband woke up the daughter at 7 when mom was already supposed to be at work for 6:30.

According to google, BC Hydro has several locations- closest to New West would be either their Burnaby or Surrey locations.

Let’s assume she worked in Burnaby, which is the closest BC Hydro location to New West, she would have at a minimum 10-15 minute drive to work at that time of day. So she would realistically be expected to leave around 6:15 am. This is all assuming she works at the location closest to her home. It’s possible she would leave even earlier if she works in their Surrey or even Vancouver location. But this is all to say at 7 am it would be expected she would be long gone and at work.

It’s almost as if he was establishing an alibi by waking her up so as to seem concerned. Wouldn’t he wait to see where she is before waking his daughter up so soon? MOO
