''The Tuesday, March 20, 1962, slaying of Nora Ranford is one of the city’s oldest unsolved murders.
According to cops, the 52-year-old woman spent the final night of her life drinking with an unidentified couple in a Queen St. E. watering hole. This was the last sighting of her alive.
By the time detectives found Ranford’s body in her Winchester St. rooming house in Cabbagetown, she had been dead six days. It’s believed her killers opened her window to keep the growing stench of her decomposing body on the down low.
Ranford’s lifeless body was discovered by her landlady lying under her blood-soaked bed. She had been strangled and battered about the head.''
