Terribly sad news.

The Sûreté du Québec is mourning the death of Patrick Bigras, who was the first police officer to arrive at the scene of Guy Turcotte’s brutal double infanticide in 2009.

Bigras took his own life last Friday. According to reports, the officer left a letter in which he apologizes for the pain that his actions will inflict on his relatives. He was 45 years old.

How sad. Thanks for the link, Sjm_qc. Isabelle Gaston is quite right in describing the police officer as a collateral victim.
