It all links together. Teeth, appearance, the area where he was hitchhiking, behaviour (the cafe owner said he did look like he'd gotten out of a mental institution, and he had been in a couple of hospitals for schizophrenic attacks), body type, age. Too many coincidences at once.

I haven't checked, what is the timeline like?

He had disappeared in that area (despite vast) a few years prior to Philip's murder. He was known to live a transient lifestyle, might have settled with an indigenous woman for a while. Might have been hospitalised too. My theory is that he roamed those areas between Washington and British Columbia for a few years and encountered Philip by accident, took the opportunity to kill him and steal his identity for whatever reason. He was a diagnosed schizophrenic. Then killed himself afterwards.

Now. This is a plausible theory. I can't accuse a person I don't know anything about, he might have just been an unfortunate soul that disappeared like millions before and after himself. However, the name of this very website is Websleuths after all, so.. here's my theory.
