Phillip Schuhmacher went missing from the Kaleden area on Oct. 2. .
"Dozens of friends and family of Phillip Schuhmacher spent part of their Thanksgiving long weekend looking for the Kaleden, B.C., man, without finding a trace.

The 36-year-old has been missing for more than 10 days and the mysterious circumstances of his disappearance have is family worried.

“He has never, ever been out of contact with the family this long and it’s so out of character for him,” said his sister Sandi Schuhmacher.

“His phone is off, he is not using any money. The cops are tracking his bank account. A regular person… they’d be spending money for food, spending money for where he is staying and none of that is happening. It makes you worry and wonder what’s going on.”

Sandi said Phillip lives in a trailer on his parents’ Kaleden property, which is where her brother was last seen, on Oct. 2, by their parents.
After his parents left to go into town around 2 p.m. that day, Phillip can be seen on security video going into his parents house to do laundry.

However, Sandi said by the time their parents returned home around 4 p.m., he was gone and there was no video of him leaving."

"We have video of him coming into the house but not leaving, so we're guessing he went out the back door," Sandi said.

"We have nothing to go on. If we had known his motivations at all, we might have a direction to go, but right now, just not knowing anywhere is very frustrating, we don't even know where to start."

Phillip, 36, had been living in Penticton with his girlfriend before going to his parents' house during the day on Oct. 2. Since then, frantic family and friends have been raising the alarm on social media and searching any way possible.

"We've tried to search the property because it's quite a large property that my parents live on, so we've had a lot of search efforts on ATVs, hiking, horseback, the RCMP helicopters came in, we've had a wonderful search group bring in some drones," Sandi said.

"We've also been going around to local communities with posters, going into businesses, asking if people have seen him, trying to get his face out there as much as possible."

The disappearance is like nothing Phillip has done before, Sandi said, adding she thinks it's possible he was picked up while hitchhiking. The family believes he was wearing a grey winter jacket, sweater and toque when he left.

"He has to be staying somewhere," she said. "Especially with it getting colder out there now, we're definitely thinking more towards towns, rather than up the mountain."
"Most recent photos of Phillip have him wearing hoodies, hats and sunglasses, but Sandi provided those she and her family feel are most indicative of his look at the time of his disappearance — six feet tall, around 120 pounds, with short brown hair and green eyes."
