''The May 28, 1991, execution-style slaying of popular Indian broadcaster Prithyi Raj (Lali) Vij, 49, was more assassination than a simple murder. Cops believed the hit was connected to bloody sectarian rivalries in the subcontinent.

”He was a well-loved man, an entertainer and a broadcaster, a link between the Indian-Canadian community and culture and TV back home,” community leader Ashok Parihar said at the time of Vij’s funeral.

The businessman was shot multiple times in the middle of the day in a parking lot behind his College St. office. His wife watched the horror unfold.''
