Police search stretch of Welland Canal shoreline for missing teen
Investigators will be searching the shore of the canal, which is closed for the winter, between Lock 1 and 2.

They are asking the public to stay away from the scene due to potential hazards.

Police say that while they know many want to help look for Bingley, it's important to let officers conduct the search so that they can do so safely and thoroughly.

I am curious why the police waited until now to search the canal for Quintin. I am assuming the canal is somewhat close to St. Catherine and Quintin's home and probably should have have been done earlier in the search but that's my opinion. At least this latest development keeps Quintins disappearance in the public eye and maybe something positive will come of it. Prayers for Quintin.

Update: Human remains found in canal by Port Weller

"Niagara Regional Police found the skeletal remains Friday morning, on the second day of searching the partially drained canal between locks one and two — looking for Quintin Bingley, 18, who was last seen at his nearby home at about 11 p.m., May 25."

"At this time, however, police describe the remains as "unidentifiable.""

Looks like he may have been close by this whole time.

I have not seen any updates on the identification of the remains found in the canal. I hope its not Quintin but whoever the remains belongs to its still a tragic situation.

Quintin Bingley's family waiting for DNA results
"It will take quite some time to identify the remains discovered in the Welland Canal in St.Catharines.

Sandra Bingley, the grandmother of missing teen Quintin Bingley tells CKTB they have been told that DNA results on skeletal remains could take 30 days to come back."

I think the family will have to wait longer than 30 days for DNA results. Maybe the family will get some type of results by March.

Each year, between Jan 1- Mar 30, the canal is closed and drained for maintenance. The northern Great Lakes are frozen and seaway shipping ceases. Conducting a search when the canal is closed is the only reasonable option. Since the Welland Canal makes it possible for ships to travel through the Great Lakes to the St Lawrence Seaway, closing it during the shipping season would be a significant problem.

My thoughts are with the family of Quinton Bingley. They have had much grief.

Human remains found in Welland

Could this be Quintin. Welland is just south of St. Catherine which is the home Quintin.
Not much information in regards to the remains. I am assuming more info will be released later.
