"The B.C. Coroners Services said it is in the early stages of an investigation into a death in Victoria of a female in her late 50s, but did not confirm her identity due to privacy reasons. The service said the woman was injured on Thursday and died on Saturday."

And back in the news today... Reena's killer, Kelly Ellard has had her parole privileges extended and is now allowed overnight stays.

"The board says Kelly Ellard, who now goes by Kerry Marie Sim, has show “sustained positive change” since her conviction and life sentence in 2005 for the second-degree murder of the 14-year-old. "

parole was revoked in August last year over drug and alcohol use and indications of violence with the father of her children ...

concern that when she’s faced with multiple stressors it can result in poor decision-making ...

follow psychiatric treatment to address her anxiety and other mental health issues ...

reluctant to move ahead with the steps necessary to find work ...


IMO, her rehabilitation is not sounding all that positive with the above observations and I sure wouldn't consider the board's 2019 opinion of “sustained positive change” to be accurate.

Nearly three decades after she held Reena Virk's head under water until the 14-year-old drowned, the woman convicted of murder in the case reportedly feels the crime is so "horrendous" that basing a TV series on it could traumatize Virk's family.

According to a recent parole board decision, Kerry Sim — who was known as Kelly Ellard at the time of Virk's murder — has expressed "some remorse and victim empathy" while discussing the release of the new Hulu true-crime series Under the Bridge with corrections officials.

Last month, the parole board extended day parole for Sim, who is serving a life-sentence for second-degree murder in the 1997 killing. The decision describes a 41-year-old struggling with children, single-parenting, the high cost of living — and the consequences of her actions.
