Deandre's mother never came home

http://www.canada.com/story_print.html?id=af5074b2-ce4f-4ccf-9744-e83f498dc98d&sponsor=

It took weeks until their friends fully accepted that they were missing, says Mcleod, who is distantly related to Knott.

Rumours had circled that Knott had been spotted at the skateboarding park in Dawson Creek, that Gunning was seen in Red Deer or had travelled to her birthplace of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, she says.

Others thought they had been chatting with friends online, but no concrete evidence of their whereabouts ever materialized after that last phone call.

About six weeks after the pair were last seen at the mall, 13-year-old Nina Courtepatte was abducted from the shopping centre and murdered on a golf course west of Edmonton. Five people were charged in connection with her death, many of them self-described mall rats.

This picture just breaks my heart - he will never know his mother. Let us keep hope that there will be justice served for whomever was responsible for the deaths of both Rene and Krystle.

Just catching back up on this heartbreaking case. I would like to give a most warm welcome to Naomi. How brave of you to share your personal experiences. I am so sorry for what I can only imagine you have gone through.

I still have to re-read some of the articles and get the timeline better established in my mind.

On first blush, based on the location of where the girls were found, one possible scenario is that someone from GP picked them up near Edmonton, gave them a ride to GP and offered them a place to stay for the night. Something happened while they were there and their bodies were dumped off Forest Trunk Rd so it would appear that they never made it all the way to GP.

Or, perhaps the person lived somewhere just prior to GP, the girls refused the offer to stay, indicating that they wanted to make it to GP and they were attacked.

Here's a link to the Simonette River Provincial Park Recreation area, near where the girls remains were found.

http://www.albertaparks.ca/simonette-river.aspx

Nestled in the deep valley of the Simonette River about 10 km south of Highway 43 on the Forestry Trunk Road, this site offers rustic campsites and access to the river for swimming and floating. There are numerous off-highway vehicle trails in the vicinity.

from that website there this link which shows a map of the area, including the vehicle trails.

I can't imagine that there was much activity at the park at night in the winter. Naomi, were winter bush parties popular with the locals?

Sorry for several posts in a row, but I just came across this article, which changes my assumption of where the remains were found.

http://www.dailyheraldtribune.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3137073&archive=true

The remains were located between the Simonette River and Economy Lake stretch of the trunk road.

It looks to me like the Simonette River and Prov Park are approximately 10 km south of the highway. Economy Lake is 35 km south of the highway. It the remains had been within a couple of km of the river, then I would be surprised if they would make any reference to Economy Lake.

Naomi, hopefully I / we haven't offended you in some way or scared you off with all of our questions. Please come back :please:

Bump for these two young girls !!

Naomi, if you are reading here still ... I hope you weren't offended by my asking a Mod to confirm your verification. That was a very, very standard request, because we have over 50,000 members and so many cases, and it has been known in the past that strangers will come in solely for the purpose of passing out misinformation and we've gone on a sleuthing tangent based on false facts. Usually the Mod will come in quickly to let us know that the member is verified, but they are soo busy with all these cases ... I was just asking so we could comfortably get on with trusting all information you provide.

It was absolutely nothing personal, so please come back again to help. Your input is really important.

This guy would have been only 15 or 16 at the time of these murders but just in case:

murdered-women.jpg

Cody Alan Legebokoff, 21, is charged with murdering three women and a teenage girl in northern B.C

He is being charged with at least 4 murders and he was only 21 at the time of this news story.

Naomi, does this guy look familiar or his name? He would have been 15 or 16 when Krystal and Renee went missing.

<rsbm>

Being 19 y.o. when his first known kills were carried out, he's already billed as probably being Canada's youngest ever serial killer, so who knows when he started.

Bump for the girls !!

I hope their spirits continue to haunt those involved in their murders.

Hi, Sorry guys, No I didnt get scared off, I had to distance myself as I was starting to go back into a very sad place with being involved in the discussions.
Okay, So for starters, She DID know Joseph Laboucan.
One thing that makes me think the murderer really IS a trucker, is because I drove past the road they were found on last year.If you are headed towards Edmonton, it is on the Right hand side, going away from Grande Prairie. It is on a Divided highway, SO they would have been travelling the opposite driection (coming from Edmonton) then the truck would have had to turn left and cross the highway to get to that road. Okay, this is my attempt to draw it out I also put it in Paint but not sure if the attatchment will work, so anyway the ^^^^ is when you are travelling that direction, i dont remember if there actually was a split directly there so you can cross right over or if you would need to pass it then back track a bit.

Hey Naomi -- Welcome back !! Hope you are feeling a bit better as time is passing, and Thanks for having the courage to rejoin the conversation. I think we all understand that it can't be easy for you to do this.

I finally learned how to post screenshots, so here goes:

Screenshot #1 is a slightly zoomed out Bing aerial view to show the appropriate markers (tags, houses, cars etc surrounding the actual intersection of Hwy 43 and Forestry Trunk Rd). This shot is just for comparison so that we can see that the zoomed in screenshot #2 is in fact the same area. (Unfortunately i can't get rid of the darn pink lines you see going east and west over Hwy 43; i think Bing uses them to denote more major routes, but not entirely sure; we just have to kind of pretend they aren't there. ).

Screenshot #2 is a zoomed in Bing aerial shot of the above intersection, and IMO it clearly shows direct access from the westbound lane of Hwy 43, across the eastbound lane right onto Forestry Trunk Rd.

Screenshot #3 is a Google satellite image of the same intersection (thankfully no pink lines to mess us up).

Both Bing and Google images are supposedly from 2013, so maybe it wasn't as well-defined back in 2005 when the girls first went missing, or when you went through a year or so ago.

PS: All 3 shots show I searched for "Edmonton, AB" only because the search engines couldn't locate little old Goodwin ... I had to "travel" along Hwy 43 west of Edmonton until i found it)
