HUNTER: Missing Canadian mystery solved on streets of Toledo? | Toronto Sun
toledo-e1639677032593.jpg

Is the late Bob St-Louis, who died in Toldeo in November, actually Robert St-Louis who vanished from Laval, Quebec in 1988. Photo by HANDOUT /TOLEDO POLICE
''Robert St-Louis walked out of his home on a warm June night in 1988 and was never heard from again.''

''But a 33-year-old mystery may be on the cusp of being solved in, of all places, the streets of Toledo, Ohio, an old industrial city on Lake Erie south of Detroit.

His family now believes that a homeless man, probably suffering from Alzheimer’s, who died on Nov. 18 in Toledo is Robert St-Louis. The dead man went by the moniker Bob St-Louis.

It’s an old story that has plagued the earth since time immemorial: A man, crushed by business setbacks and personal failure, simply walks away. With the level of surveillance in society today, that particular gambit is rare anymore.''

But according to Le Journal de Quebec , it sounds like this is what happened to St-Louis.

Police have taped off an area off the Mille-Îles River after divers found a car believed to be linked to a 37-year-old cold case. (Stephane Giroux/CTV)

''A vehicle believed to be linked to a Laval man’s disappearance 37 years ago is being fished out of the Mille-Îles River in Deux-Montagnes, Que.

Australian and American divers from Exploring With a Mission said they found a vehicle believed to belong to Robert St-Louis who went missing in the late ‘80s on Sunday.

Diver William McIntosh told CTV News he his crew found “five or six cars” in the river, one of them matching the description St-Louis’s daughter had given of her father’s Jeep Cherokee Chief.

He said the divers found bones inside the vehicle.

McIntosh said St-Louis’s daughter contacted the Exploring With a Mission team for help solving her father’s disappearance — she had been the last person to see him when he went missing on Father’s Day in 1988.''

Private DNA tests on Toledo homeless man show no match with missing Quebec furrier
Jan 21, 2022
"The death came as multiple people in Toledo already were attempting to connect him to the mysterious disappearance from Laval, a suburb of Montreal.

A man of the same name, also with blue eyes and a similar facial appearance — given the 33-year distance — was declared missing in June, 1988.

That Mr. St-Louis had his own fur business, a wife, and five children. He had spent the day of June 13, 1988, with his daughter, Nathalie, and then left to return home. When his wife returned to their home at 12:30 a.m., she found his wallet at home and his vehicle, a Jeep, gone.

The vehicle has never been found. After waiting for him to come home and then searching among relatives and acquaintances, she contacted police on June 18.''
