Investigators would also like to ask that anyone who has knowledge of Adam STRONG's movements or associations from the mid-1990s until his arrest in December of 2017 to come forward. Investigators are interested in speaking to anyone who may have assisted STRONG in towing his 18-foot boat to any body of water in the GTA. STRONG was known to live in both central Oshawa, Rideau Street and the Nonquon Road-area of Oshawa over the past 20 years

One could assume that the family spent the last 10yrs trying to get help from the media to no avail - this story is sensational enough to merit click$ though, so I'm sure they will be terrorizing that poor family

ITA r.e the media.

I had not heard about Kandis' disappearance at all. I'm trying to find her original missing info from DRPS.

Should a thread come under the heading of missing, crimes in the news or located/recovered?

Investigators have identified the DNA profile of a second female inside the Oshawa residence of Adam STRONG.

Trace samples that have come back from the Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences led to missing Oshawa resident Kandis FITZPATRICK. DNA samples provided by her parents were used to assist with this identification. FITZPATRICK was born in 1989 and has been missing since 2008. Her whereabouts are still unknown and investigators are reaching out to the public for any information about her association to STRONG. She would have turned 29-years old on February 3rd this year.

Too many unknowns r e Kandis. She is last seen in 2008 and reported missing in 2010. Can't locate the original report. Where was she? What was she doing, wearing, etc etc. I assume she is dead.

Dotr: maybe crimes in the news? Not sure if the DNA means located.

Ended up putting thread in missing persons as i have since read that although her dna was apparently located in the home, she is still missing and therefore she may still be alive.
speculation.

Last seen at a McDonalds. Was this near AS?

In that FB group, it says that LE never would file the report because she was a "street kid", sex worker, on drugs etc so they just brushed her aside.

Getting all too familiar.

Police said the DNA of a third woman was also found in the apartment but that person was located alive.

“We were aware at that time of two other missing females in the Oshawa area,” Short said.

“One of the females I was able to locate and spoke with and found her to be safe and fine.”

DNA of missing woman confirmed at apartment where remains of pregnant Oshawa teen found: police | Globalnews.ca
I may be mistaken, but I thought he said DNA from two women (ie RH&KF), but at the time there were two women missing - one was found. Only 2 sets of DNA.

So did he dump Kandis in the lake too? What month did she go missing?

re Police Conference
@ 17:24 / -10:59

Kandis' whereabouts:

"She was last seen leaving her residence
by her 2 sisters, her brother and her father
to attend a mall in Oshawa.
And she was not seen again until maybe June or July
of that same year [June 2008] by her sister.
That was the last known sighting by
any family or friends. .....
She would have been 18 at the time.
The family came in in 2010 and expressing concerns
of not having seen her since the Summer of 2008."

Last seen June or July could mean she could be in the lake. I hope someone remembers helping AS with his boat around that time in 2008.

Noting, with a sad shake of my head..
Group says 78 women, girls, killed across Canada in past six months | The Star
July 10 2018
"Group says 78 women, girls, killed across Canada in past six months"
"OTTAWA—A group that tracks media reports of the killing of women and girls says there were 78 victims of femicide across Canada in the first half of this year.

A report from the Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability lists the victims by age, location and name, where possible."
But in some cases, names are missing.

The observatory says that’s because there has been a growing trend in some places not to identify homicide victims."

"The observatory says that’s because there has been a growing trend in some places not to identify homicide victims."

Why this trend?

I tried researching this but most of what I found was people complaining about the trend, not any real reasons behind it other than respecting the wishes of the family. Which I don't think explains why it's a trend but anyway:

Christie Blatchford: Why not name murder victims? New Alberta policy is absurd
“The EPS has decided not to release the name of the deceased in this investigation for the following reasons: It does not serve an investigative purpose, there is no risk to public safety and the EPS has a duty to protect the privacy rights of the victims and their families.”
Homicide victims: To name or not to name?
Due to a fairly recent SIU policy change, Michael’s name was withheld at the request of his family, and for a while he was simply known as the naked, violent Ajax man killed by the cops.

Frustrated by Michael’s portrayal and convinced the SIU was wrong, Joanne and her family went public with Michael’s story, and shared tales of a mild-mannered, loveable man who enjoyed playing with his many nieces and nephews.

Joanne said the public reaction was overwhelming. She said she now believes all homicide victims’ names should be released.
Police will identify homicide victims 'on case-by-case basis', chiefs say
A document released Wednesday by the chiefs outlines a number of considerations when it comes to deciding whether to name victims, including the deceased’s right to privacy, the rights of surviving family and the public’s right to know.

Police said Wednesday that the new standard doesn’t represent a significant change from existing policies, though the document would appear to align Alberta’s police forces in tipping the balance in favour of privacy when it comes to identifying victims.

“The chiefs believe, as I believe, that public interest does not trump privacy,” said Calgary police Chief Roger Chaffin.
