Found Deceased Canada - Sahil Kumar, 22, foreign student, Toronto, 16 May 2025

This is so sad. The article doesn’t provide much information, not even the name of the lake Sahil was found in. I’m wondering if it was close to where he went missing from? The family says he was a good swimmer, so
the situation is definitely odd. I hope this is investigated further.
It was probably Lake Ontario, but he was found by Hamilton police ie, 75 km from the Toronto waterfront.

Since Hamilton is where he lived, I think he must have returned there. It seems so unlikely or even impossible for the lake (which is not a river) to carry a body all the way to Hamilton, not to mention what an extraordinary coincidence that's where he would be found.

I think this sad case is likely related to other instances, labelled 'mental health concerns'.

IMO the experience of landing without family abroad, with, inevitably, high expectations, might be too much for some young people to handle, and they 'go under'.

It could well be that.

It could also be an accident. Down at Harbourfront, and along most of the waterfront, there is no fence separating visitors from water, maybe a sort of elevated curb that you could trip over as much as anything else. I can easily see someone accidentally falling in, getting shocked by the cold, and drowning.

Sahil Kumar, a 22-year-old international student from India, went missing in May and was found deceased 10 days later at the Toronto waterfront. His family is searching for answers about what happened. (Supplied)
''Sahil Kumar, who was 22-year-old, came to Canada from northern India’s Biwani district in April. He was living with roommates in Hamilton, Ont. and was enrolled in a one-year web design program at Humber College’s downtown Toronto campus, his cousin Amit Singh told CP24.com earlier this week.

On Friday, May 16, Kumar took the GO train to Toronto for reasons that remain unclear. He exited Union Station, walked towards York Street, and was last seen near Yonge and Dundas streets at around 1 p.m., police said.''

'The biggest question they all have, he said, is why and how Kumar ended up near and in the water.''

I do not think that is what Sahil was wearing when he disappeared. That photo looks to belong to the group family shot, taken when he first arrived.

The downtown waterfront is easy to navigate, so how he entered the water is curious.

I hope his family find answers.
