Still nothing on this lovely lady?

I believe her accent is Cajun. Given her age, she may also speak French. Many people in our area (south LA) can carry on a conversation in French.

“There’s nothing that shows she jumped,” Bourdages said. “There were items in her room that were missing that indicates she left and wasn’t coming back.”

Bourdages said there is concern about Powell’s well-being because she is on medication and becomes agitated and disoriented without it.

Bourdages would not specify what type of medication Powell is on or why she is taking it. He also would not say what items were missing from Powell’s room on the ship and what items were left there.

But she didn't take her meds??

I find it very unusual that she would leave without plans to come back, but abandon her belongings

Wouldn't you just pack up and disembark?

Neighbours in Powell’s hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana say this isn’t the first time she has gone missing

“When I first moved to the neighbourhood she came to the door and brought me some flowers and welcomed me to the neighbourhood,” her neighbour, Kelli Spring, tells CTV News. “She said she wasn’t social, but I thought she was sweet and nice.”

An FBI agent in Boston is investigating Powell’s disappearance for the United States and RCMP in Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have also been notified.

I hope so too
especially with her medication needs
I wonder if she was confused?
It seems strange for no one to notice she wasn't around from the 30th of sept but not question it til the 4th

Born and raised in NS, live in the middle of the county for the last 25 years

Would these cruises not include set meals?, if anyone missed just one meal that should have been noticed IMO..

And why do the police think she left the ship? If she did, then there should be CCTV film documenting her exit even if the gangway security guards were asleep at the wheel.

I think if she was seen on video, it would be clear where she disembarked

i have followed a couple of missing at sea threads this year, and the one thing that is being questioned each time is the the video cameras..

Would the cabin stewards not even notice an unslept in bed, and not bring that to someones attention, also i believe that there should be some sort of roll call each day, as this sort of thing is happening far too often..

I was hoping to come in and see that ms Powell had been found safe

That is really the part I don't understand
usually the same people look after your room, AFAIK with my limited cruise experience

I would think that a stewart going into a room for three days would notice nothing had been touched

Have been searching for some updates, but nothing, so very sad, she looks a very vibrant lady for a 70yr old..

I have been searching as well
NOTHING!

But she didn't take her meds??

I can't figure out how they know there were items missing. How would they know what she had with her. Would that also not possibly include her medications? I wonder if she is a free spirit and just likes to go here and there without answering to anyone. Maybe she just got off the ship where she wanted to get off and didn't want to reboard. Maybe found a new boyfriend? :waitasec:

But then, surely the authorities have checked her bank records / credit cards, etc. for any activity. Or, maybe someone she met is wealthy?

And her adult children didn't return the phone calls? That also makes me wonder.
Also, is it possible that she may not even know that she's considered "missing" and that people are looking for her?

Such a mysterious case when someone like this just seems to vanish into thin air. It's cases like this that keep me awake at night.

There's a comment under this story...by someone who's worked on a cruise ship for 3 years...fwiw.
