Shahnaz Pestonji, left, was a retired nurse. She was a wife, a grandmother and a mom. That’s how her family, husband Soli Pestonji, right, and daughters Yasmin and Dina Pestonji, centre, are choosing to celebrate her life. (Submitted by Pestonji family)
''Soli Pestonji said he knew something was wrong when 1 p.m. rolled around and his wife, Shahnaz Pestonji, wasn't home yet.
Thursdays were her grocery shopping days. Shahnaz usually left home around 9 a.m. and came back home by 11:30 a.m., often carrying bags from a couple of different stores.
But this week was different. Shahnaz never came home.''

''She and her husband celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary earlier this month. He had no way of knowing it would be their last.
"She was the love of my life. She was the most wonderful person I've ever met," Pestonji said.''

''Police told CBC Toronto via email Friday that they're still looking for the suspect.
"Since the homicide took place, police have conducted an extensive search – canvassing door-to-door, using canine units and drones – and we continue to follow every investigative lead," police said.''

A 14yo! OK, I know he's not the first of his age to allegedly have murdered someone.

RIP to Shahnaz and Best wishes to her family and friends

And a new grand baby on the way next month.
I wonder if he is linked to the cave dweller that stabbed the senior gardening?
Is this some type of internet initiation?
Throw the book at him, and try him like an adult!!

Google the suspects name and an Instagram post he made pops up, scary, very scary, imo.

Yikes, this is very scary. People online are already singing his virtues and the facts he has mental illness, he was a missing person last year. So why is he ramping up his issues with a gun?? We all know what will happen if he encounters the LE with that gun.

“I want to be very clear, do not approach this individual. He is considered dangerous,” Pinfold said. “If you see someone matching his description, or if you have any information about his whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.”
Pinfold said <name redacted> was last seen Thursday around noon at the TTC’s Kennedy station, and is possibly still in the transit system. He also said police were able to track his movements from Don Mills station, and to and from the crime scene, through video surveillance.
“I can’t nail it down to an exact area of the city, but he is, as far as we know, very knowledgeable of the city, and especially riding the transit system,” he said. ''

''The arrest comes as videos circulating online show a masked individual speaking publicly about the incident in an interview.''

''In an interview with CP24, former Toronto police homicide detective Mark Mendelson, shared his insights on the news of today’s arrest.

Mendelson said investigators took the “fairly rare” step of seeking a provincial court order to release the teen’s identity and photograph, which he noted was from Toronto police - meaning that they’d had some sort of previous interaction with him.

He also pointed to the fact that the accused had allegedly taken to social media to post some of his “thoughts and excuses” online, which Mendelson said could have had a “component in locating him.” He also noted that police had said that the teen was known to frequent the TTC.

''Mendelson also pointed to the work of cyber crime investigators, whom he said also likely played an important role in finding the suspect and building the case against him.''

''A Toronto teen charged with second-degree murder in the deadly stabbing of a 71-year-old woman last week appeared in court Monday.

The 14-year-old defendant, who was briefly identified by police by way of a judicial authorization prior to his arrest on Sunday, was dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit as he was spoken to via video link at a Toronto courtroom.''

'The case has been adjourned until July 28.'
