Welcome to Ws debsy99, thanks for joining this thread!
Yes, this missing person case, does imo. have an eerie element to it.
Do you think there is any chance that Shannon did have some legitimate connection to either Toronto or Vancouver?
I have been following from the sidelines. Originally joined for the Nathan O'brien case and followed closely the Luka Magnotta case. This one hits closer to home as I know someone in the family. It's been eerily quiet for some time now. No updates anywhere no information at all. I wish they could all get some answers. As for if they suspected foul play why have they not said anything yet. CPS likes to keep their cards super close till they are 100% ready to make an arrest. In one case they recently arrested a man who's wife went missing 2 years earlier. Another case a guy I went to school with was stabbed to death at a bar and that also took 2 years before they arrested the guy. I think about Shannon daily, it has an eerie feeling to it though.
Hi everyone,
I've been reading this thread for the last two days without commenting on it. I'm kind of new to WS, since I only registered a couple of months ago and this is my first missing person case.
It caught my eye because, just like me, Shannon is Canadian.
One question that I've seen asked here and that I did ask myself is, did the police even ''physically'' look for her? About one year ago, there was a young man who disappeared in Quebec City and I remember that the case just seemed unreal because his friends had been with him inside a restaurant. The guy said he was going to the bathroom and he never came back. Well, guess what? He was found four days later, in between an outside wall and a garage. He fell from a terrasse, got stuck there and died.
Something similar could've happened to Shannon, although... if she went out that night with the intention of meeting someone, or a group of people, that or those persons would have come forward and said it, right? Someone would've been waiting for her somewhere, or someone would've spent some time with her right before her disappearance.
This is a very strange case. She does not appear to be the type of person who'd just take off like that in the middle of the night. She had plans. She was actively looking for gigs.
What I'm thinking is that maybe she got into a conversation with someone on Facebook that night and they decided to meet up. She went and something happened to her. Although, leaving their cell phone at home is not something people usually do, especially if they go out at night. Cell phones used to be bought for emergencies, and even though we use them for a wide range of purposes nowadays, I know that I'd never go anywhere at night (especially alone!) without my cell phone. Ever.
I have paralleled the LM case many times too... Very similar press release. Hopefully not the same outcome.A very recent case in Calgary of a missing woman (Lisa Mitchell) whose remains were found two years later in her own home is especially unsettling.

Is it possible that LE has a suspect but can't legally prove it at this time so they have to wait it out with surveilance to qualify a reason for a search? How long will this go on for before they either have evidence or lose evidence and lose the chance or find the chance to press charges? Of all the unsolved missing person's cases they are most likely unsolved murders.
A part of me thinks that LE needs to recover her body before laying charges. I question the efforts made by LE in the early hours of the investigation and that they may not have collected the evidence as efficiently as they did in the Liknes-O'brien Homicide and that they are not able to take the risk of another homicide charge without a body. If that makes sense.

I imagine police need at the very least, a crime scene. In the Liknes case, they had a bloody crime scene. Obviously they moved ahead with the declaration of homicide and subsequent charges.
I just posted on Justin Mckinnon-Blomme's page here... In contrast with the family of SB, they have set up a FB page, keep the story alive in the press and have papered the city in flyers. His forum here could really use some sleuthers though... Very odd case.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.
I hope that that the reason LE isn't giving any news is because they don't have a body so there's nothing to charge someone with. But at the same time, the longer it takes before they arrest someone, the longer that person has to delete and hide proof. And I fear that, if they have no leads whatsoever, they put her case at the bottom of the pile and focus on more recent ones. I don't know how many detectives are investigating the missing persons cases in Calgary but with the awful lot there seems to be, they must be pretty busy.
And also, I want to add that I find it kind of odd that no one from Shannon's family created a Missing page for her on Facebook. Is it something common for the families of the missing to set up pages so people can share pictures and information? I would think so.
The person CS who I mentioned she follows on twitter was a producer in Edmonton who moved to Toronto and works at a nightclub, I checked all of the new years pictures but didn't see shannon in them at all. Couple people had similar traits, though. This CS person was also a producer or director of the canadian version of Cauti*n: M*y C*ntain N*ts....
Also the 'shanswer' youtube page says she 'liked' their video 1 month ago, i've been refreshing it daily to see when it clicks over to 'two months ago' but it hasn't cycled yet....

Have there been any rewards offered for info leading to Shannon or regarding what happened. Can these be started on crowd funding like sites? If the family cannot afford it. It's a long shot, but I wonder if something of this nature would bring good information as to Shannon's location forward.
