This is very very strange. Obviously everyone in the family would know about this infamous relative. Then they just include him on a family tree site with a date of death knowing that not too long ago he was the most wanted person in Canada!

This old case needs a new refresh such as the DNA being sent through the system currently since many new additions have been made that may be linked to someone using a different name. It also needs more pictures from the past that can be currently better aged with new technology out there. Also, perhaps pictures from a relative such as his brother which would include old and new ones could be used as a model basis from which to use for comparison controls for the fugitive.

Homicide Cold Case investigators are searching for closure on a decades-old case that shook the city. Nine-year-old Sharin Morningstar Keenan was found dead a week after she was allegedly abducted on January 23, 1983.''

''Howe was described at the time as approximately 5'9", brown eyes, a half-inch scar under the left side of his chin, a crooked pinkie or little finger. He had a scar on the right thumb and he was left-handed. He had a small birthmark on the right side of his chest area. He had very bad teeth. He often used the term “turkeys” when speaking about people and he liked to do needlepoint in jail.

He used alcohol and drugs and smoked heavily.

He may have difficulty hearing and may now require a hearing aid. Howe had been released on mandatory supervision in 1982 from a Saskatchewan penitentiary where he spent almost 15 years for assaulting women and girls. He has a long criminal record for violent offences.

Howe was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was divorced in1967 and did not have any children during that relationship but apparently he has one child, believed to be a daughter, from a common-law relationship in 1969. Both his mother and father are deceased.''

Are there only two pictures of the suspect shown to the public from over 40 years ago? Both of these pictures show the suspect looking differently to the extent that they look like two different people. Have these two pictures ever been combined as one by any program? Are there two separate aged drawings based on each picture anywhere rather than from just one picture? The suspect may be somewhat different looking than what we may expect from the drawings. This may have made him elusive. Is there any specific group that just deals with this case only?

Since Howe had trouble with his teeth, it is easy to imagine him with sunken cheeks now, imo.

There is a picture of Sharin's late father looking at two pictures together of the suspect. One of the pictures looks like a sideview that hasn't been seen before. Does anyone have any closeup of it?

That's a very good point about the lack of photos of Howe. I don't think the second photo is Howe the first photo (moustache) is him. Of course LE say both are him. The first come from RCMP I believe the other from the Prince Albert Pen. The odd thing is (more than odd) before they had Howe's correct name Toronto LE took a housemate of his to Sask. to look through photos in various Sask. cities. Supposedly in all of those Sask. stations the pictures of Howe were missing. Also they did NOT go to the Prince Albert pen which is the major jail. Your suspect has just raped and killed a child. Why not go there? The brother who may have helped Howe and may have visited him in the U.S. is dead, I believe the sister who appears briefly in the Ridgen documentary Sharin is dead now I believe not sure about the brother who appears in the Ridgen film. Now in that film the sister says her kids did not even know he existed BUT we have the strange occurence of this geneaological site by a real relative giving the date he died. I do hope LE talked to the author the site it should not be difficult to find him not a common name.

Now in this release Gallant says he was in jail for 15 years for attacks on women and girls. As described by Ridgen though what happened was he accosted/kidnapped women drove them long distances and MAY have attempted sexual contact. It is a bit different than what Gallant is saying. It sounds a bit oneiric and strange and it may be significant that LE wanted to get access to a secret military database of soldiers who had experienced amnesia from head trauma. Buy I don't think Howe was in the army he was usually in jail or prison.

I wonder if LE ever talked to the Governor General's Award winning author David Gilmour who lived across the street from Howe at the time of the murder with his young (child) daughter. I knew their nanny. From his writing it is obvious that he is a very intelligent and observant person and there are reasons he may have known or brushed up against Howe. His novel A Perfect Night to Go to China is somewhat influenced by the Sharin story perhaps and certainly just about everyone in that neighbourhood would have been affected by this terrible crime. Early on LE was suggesting that he could be in Thailand or Jamaica I have no idea why I believe they might have even gone to Jamaica (not sure of this). Gilmour was very familiar with Jamaica and though it is a long shot it would be interesting to know if he had insight into Howe re Jamaica or anything else.

Yes Dotr those age enhanced images are probably close to useless by this point. But Howe had a lot of interesting mannerisms and habits those are very important. I wish they would say more about his drug use when Gallant mentioned that it was new to me. What drugs? Time really is passing now and though I thought he might be alive into his 70's it is hard to imagine him living past 80.

I do think LE should have questioned if that second photo is really Howe. They have the tools to examine the photo. It is likely that PA pen made a mistake. It could just be a clerical error. After all the photos of him are missing from other Sask. cities so did something odd happen to that photo? Was PA embarrased they didn't have a photos of him as well for whatever reason and sent something else? I agree with the new poster they are just obviously two different people.

I would love to know what sparked the Jamaica and Thailand idea especially Jamaica of course. Thailand of course would make sense in those days you could do visa runs ad infinitum. Jamaica though much harder to blend in even to the expat population.

What do you mean is there a dedicated group? It is still worked on by LE not everyday that is for sure by this point. There is this this site. What else were you thinking? There used to be a FB group Sharin Morningstar Keenan Find My Killer with some strange interesting posts by someone mentioning the Clarke Psychiatric Institute, a different motive for her killing, something that interested me about a picture of a little Greek. perhaps we are not allowed to mention anything they said here though. Probably I am confusing things with this sorry.

Here is a copy of the fingerprint file. On the middle right it says 83/09/24 for a date. Is this the date when the fingerprints were taken? If so, it doesn't make sense given that the murder occurred in late January 1983 and was discovered in early February 1983. Something doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for this well the pic in profile does seem a bit closer to the RCMP photo with the moustache. Not close but the difference is not quite as jarring. I was thinking more about Jamaica: if Howe could get some money from Eugene his half brother or another relative he MIGHT be able to quickly 'hide' in Jamaica/the Caribbean by getting in a relationship with a Caribbean woman using a fake identity. When you think about it North America would always be a problem. The genius of it would be everyone looking for him in the U.S. or Canada. The non ratting culture wouldn't hurt as well. People simply wouldn't know about this crime there other than one brief period (?) where Toronto LE went to Jamaica or had it the case publicised there I forget which.

While on the subject of ethnicity, if relevant, I wonder about Howe's background on his Mom's side. Leskew of Leskiw is usually Ukrainian though I believe it says she was born in Austri. Nascia/Nasia is usually a Middle Eastern Hebrew name as far as I know. I have always had this strange 'hunch' that I cannot support with evidence that Howe looks Metis to me in the earlier picture. Now Caron is French but also often a Metis name. I always wonder if Howe actually targeted Sharin even from prison if he saw the CBC TV show about the family business. One of Sharin's siblings was named Summer Sky though I think changed it later. We don't know really anything about what Howe was doing after he went AWOL from his job in Prince Albert for the full period until he killed Sharin. For all the infamy of this case it is true that little information has been released to help people find Howe. As was said here by the recent poster no additional photos. I kick myself for not thinking of that it is so true.
