[h=1]The mysterious case of Sharon Drover[/h]
sharon-drover.jpg

Born into a poverty-stricken home on Bell Island, Sharon Drover was a little girl when she was taken into foster care along with her baby sister, Theresa.

"She was my constant. She was there all the time. Everywhere we went," Theresa Drover, now in her 50s, said in an interview at her St. John's home.

"She made sure I had my bath, brushed my teeth and [had] something to eat. She took care of me like that."

When Sharon was 16, the brown-haired, slight girl left her foster home in Kelligrews and moved into a boarding house on Livingstone Street, in downtown St. John's.

She took on her first job at McDonald's on Kenmount Road. That's where she was the evening of Dec. 28, 1978.
It was payday.
Sharon Drover would never cash that cheque.
It was a cold and overcast day in downtown St. John's. A faint trace of fresh Christmas snow was sprinkled on the sidewalk outside Drover's boarding house.

She pulled on a beige jacket over her pale blue jeans, and hauled black boots on her feet to make the trek up Kenmount Road for her 5 p.m. shift. At the time, McDonald's was just west of Pippy Place; the uphill walk was more than four kilometres from her home.

Police said Drover made it to work and collected her paycheque.
However, police have no idea where Drover went after her shift ended at 2 a.m.
For more than a decade, that's where the story ended — assumptions from police that Drover got in a vehicle while walking home from work and was killed.
She wasn't reported missing until 46 days later, hampering the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's efforts to find fresh evidence.

Sharon had been staying on Bell Island with her biological mother and father for Christmas, but her sister wasn't sure at the time how long she would be there, or when she planned to come back to the city.

Sharon's foster mother also became suspicious of her whereabouts. She called Sharon's social worker, who advised it was none of her business. Sharon was of age.

At the time, Sharon had been living with her boyfriend, a man named Victor — a relationship Theresa Drover didn't know about until after her sister's disappearance.
Other people were living in the boarding house at the time, too.

What's going on with her right ear? Does she miss a piece of her earlobe, or is this just me?

Following publicity in the early 1990s, two brothers came forward stating that they picked up a female hitchhiker on Kenmount Road the night that Drover went missing.
They said they dropped her off on Long's Hill.
The brothers said the young woman appeared to get in a heated conversation with some people near the front door of her apartment.
Moments later, the young woman was seen running south on Long's Hill.

Sharon is compared to an unidentified female in San Bernardino County, CA and an uid female in Texas (I don't know for sure but I think this was "orange socks", she is not on this rule out list but the reason for this could be that she is from Canada) Neither of them turned out to be Sharon.

I think that one of her earlobes is attached and one is detached (also known as a free earlobe): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earlobe

I have someone in my family like this but not as noticeable as Sharon's is from the front. You can see another picture that shows her earlobe difference in the video you posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwMU4Obpvcw

About 3:44 her sister holds up another picture. Her earlobe differences could make it easy to identify Sharon if she was found as a Jane Doe with a recognizable face.

So you think her ear was not deformed? (what a beautiful sister....have to say this) are they mixed in with natives?

No not deformed. I think it's just difference of how it attaches. Here is an example picture of a man with the same thing and it explains the genetics of how people can have both types of earlobes: http://genetics.thetech.org/ask/ask190

Sharon's ears are more noticeable because they stick out farther than the man in that picture. JMO.

I don't know if her family has native background or not.

7 missing person cases that remain unsolved mysteries

[...]

In late December 1978, Sharon Drover was just 17 and trying to make it on her own, after living the majority of her life in foster care.

Drover collected her paycheque at McDonald's on Kenmount Road during a shift on the evening of Dec. 28, 1978.

But it would never be cashed.
https://youtu.be/NwMU4Obpvcw
Drover's case is one of the oldest missing person files the RNC is investigating, and it's believed she was murdered.

However, her body has never been found.

Sharon Drover
Missing since December 29, 1978 from St. John's Newfoundland, Canada.
Classification: Endangered Missing

Vital Statistics <Where are the other stats? Height, weight, color of her hair, eyes....distinctive markers, did anybody had an eye for this young lady anyway?>

    • Age at Time of Disappearance: 17 years old
From another source; She had dark brown hair, medium length, fair colored skin and a scar jut below her chin. she was 5'3" to about 5'5" in height with a slinder shape. Born on March 15 1961.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Sharon Drover was last seen late on December 29, 1978. Her disappearance wasn't reported to police until several weeks later. Family members thought she was staying at her foster mother's home. Her foster mother thought she was visiting her family on Bell Island.

Drover left her boarding house to go to McDonald's on Kenmount Road to pick up her paycheck, however, she never arrived there. Later, two brothers came forward and said that on December 29, 1978 they picked up a hitchhiker, whom they thought may have been Drover, on Kenmount Road and dropped her off on Long's Hill, adjacent to the boarding house. The girl stopped and talked with a man and then ran down Long's Hill. Although police cannot confirm that it was Drover, they suspect it was.
Police have been unable to find out who she had been talking to. Foul play is suspected.

In 1993, floorboards were removed in the Livingstone Street boarding house, but no evidence was gleaned from the search.

I wonder why in the video about Sharon they show the file of Pamela Asprey, another missing woman/girl...and where they have searched for her....Is Sharon's file not available? I feel so much sympathy and sadness for her sweet sister....

This case is concerning....it looks like in this case known things (or should I say alleged happenings) are recycled over and over again...but nothing new is coming up...What is the status of the investigation now......2022??? Obvious a cold case. Any leads investigated..thoughts from people working at the boarding house, other people living there, colleagues, sister or other family members, theories about who may have hurt her? Boyfriend, people she may have connected with through hobbies/work/church? Where was this boarding house/foster mother's house? what was it?, who was running it....etc. etc. The silence is deafening....it feels colder then cold.

I did check unclaimed property for Sharon, because I wanted to know if there was any evidence she didn't took her paycheck or any other trace and there was nothing there. I think it was less then $1,000.

Once the money goes to the Bank of Canada, accounts of less than $1,000 are held for a maximum of 30 years. (OT what happens to it then? State treasury I guess) Accounts of more than $1,000 are held for 100 years.

I hope one day there will be answers to what happened to Sharon.
