McConkey was last seen leaving work on December 20, 2001. That same day, his vehicle was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on County Road #2 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township. There was no trace of him at the scene. An extensive ground search of the area failed to locate McConkey and his whereabouts remain unknown.
