In light of several new revelations from a CBC podcast, an online petition is calling for Hamilton police and city officials to take renewed interest in the case of the 1998 disappearance of Sheryl Sheppard.
"We believe that police and prosecutors should act on (new) information to seek answers from Michael Lavoie, the prime suspect in the case," says the petition. "In addition, we want to assist police to raise a larger reward fund for Sheryl, and in additional searches if required."
Lavoie, who the podcast revealed has been interviewed less than 30 minutes since the investigation opened, claimed he dropped Sheppard off at a hotel in Niagara Falls, where he said she would be working as an exotic dancer. She was never seen again.
Sgt. Peter Thom of the Hamilton police homicide unit says the investigation remains open and ongoing.
"As a result of the CBC podcast, a couple of follow-up interviews were conducted," he confirmed in an emailed statement to CBC News.

The friend claims Sheppard told her she was planning to tell Michael she couldn't marry him. She also claims She told her she was planning to tell Michael this in a public place so he wouldn't "flip out," because he had a temper.
This friend also says that Michael "had a bad habit" of grabbing Sheppard by the throat when they would get into an argument or a fight and that Sheppard was a little afraid of him.

I have a quick question for those of you familiar with this case. Did Sheryl have breast implants? If so, do you know the year that she had the breast augmentation surgery?
i don't know much about this case, but Sheryl saying "don't be surprised if i go missing" is very suspicious to me,
there is too much coincidence there, she says that, and then weeks later it happens,
maybe she was planning on running away, and that was her way of saying "Goodbye" to people,
maybe she crossed the border from niagara falls into the states
she didn't take her contact lenses or eye glasses that she needed, or her purse or money etc there was no indication she was wanting to go off on some risky adventure , she had a steady full time job she was close to her family nothing to suggest she would up and vanish but plenty that points to her boyfriend imomy other theory is that she had some very "risky adventures" planned in niagara falls, i know that area well and its known for seedy prostitution and stripping/escorting,
maybe she went there with the intentions of meeting a "pimp" which she knew in advance would be dangerous (hence her warning) and obviously did not tell anybody about it, and just got caught up in "the wrong crowd"
IMO her boyfriend had nothing to do with this....i believe his story 100%
.
nothing that I have seen that points to that even being remotely likely.i don't know much about this case, but Sheryl saying "don't be surprised if i go missing" is very suspicious to me,
