Justin Bourque has been taken into police custody by an RCMP Emergency Response team on Mecca Drive, not far from where three police officers were murdered 30 hours earlier.

The news has not been officially confirmed by an RCMP spokesperson, but multiple police officers were seen celebrating the news in the north end of Moncton.

He was taken into custody just before 12:30 a.m. Friday. Bourque was being sought in connection with murders of three Codiac Regional RCMP officers Wednesday evening and the wounding of two other police officers.

He was in my backyard. I saw him arrested in front of my eyes. He is alive. Thank you #RCMPNB.

The swat team arrived at my house and unloaded and started screaming in my backyard for him to surrender and he did. I watched it happen.

They had him sprawled on my front lawn for some time and then loaded him into the swat vehicle. They are now checking my yard for firearms.
