very very proud of the RCMP -- thank you for keeping it classy

They handled the press conference with a great deal of respect for both the citizens of Moncton as well as the injured RCMP and requested that the families of the fallen be given the space they need to heal.

Sooo very happy to hear he was caught without incident. LMAO he said he was "done" Oh NO shooter guy it has just begun for YOU!!!! Very proud of LE. Now the grief sets in and the road to some kind of new normal. My heart goes out to Family and loved ones of those who lost their lives. I suspect we will hear much more about his life and interactions. If I knew him I wouldn't say a word until he was caught. Thanks for all the updates and those that hung in here well into the night :seeya:

Not to derail the thread but perhaps we could use a laugh. Speaking of Dexter. Hubby and I were getting caught up on Seasons. My work mate had PVR'd it. We had just watched the Trinity Series and I was all hyped up as it was so awesome. The phone rang and Hubby answered. I asked who is it and he replied I think it's Rich. Thought maybe wondering how we liked that series as he knew we were going to watch that eve. I grabbed the phone and launch into "How awesome the kills were" Yadayadayada. Then silence. Um this is Crimestoppers calling for your annual donation :blushing: I'm sure I am on list somewhere :floorlaugh:

So relieved to wake up to the good news of his capture this a.m. Such grief over the loss of the RCMP officers - all of whom left their homes and their families on Wednesday morning on what seemed like a normal work day for them, never to return. May they RIP, and their families find solace in our appreciation and acknowledgment of their sacrifice, their dedication and their selflessness.

So GLAD he was caught without anymore loss of life. Pathetic little man.
I could say more , but I want to focus on the lives lost. One of the officers murdered had a wife and little child--- with another on the way.

I'm sure there will be more information forthcoming about the other two, as well.
May they rest in peace and my utmost condolences to their loved ones and coworkers.

More revelations from his friends. MSM loves emphasising what a 'normal' guy he was - I seriously have problems believing he was ever super normal

more from friend
He started using more drugs and drinking harder, his friend, Darrick Lloyd Hanson, told the paper. “When he started saying, ‘I would kill anyone for you guys’ and started screaming, ‘I’m dead. I’m dead,’ that’s when I stopped hanging out with him,” Hanson said.

Friends told the paper that Bourque loved guns and owned as many as six. Recently, they said, he had become increasingly paranoid about the government taking away guns and fearful that police departments were becoming more militarized.

n his Facebook page, Bourque posted a photo from an anti-gun control group of the movie pirate, Capt. Jack Sparrow, with a chilling, if not prophetic, message printed in capital letters above and below the image:

“WE NEED YOUR GUNS, THEY SAID. SO I SHOT THEM.”

Still, he was a “really calm guy, really nice, really cool to be around,” Mr. Fink said. Then he dropped from Facebook for a while, before reappearing earlier this year a different person.

he started getting into more “borderline conspiracy” stuff about governments taking guns away and commenting a lot about the situation in Ukraine, Mr. Finck said.

On March 3, he posted on Facebook a warning that a Third World War was “right around the corner” and that NATO was outnumbered by Russia and its allies.

he warned that Canada was one of the world’s likeliest targets and Russia would invade due to an abundance of natural and man-made resources.

Mike Campbell has known Mr. Bourque since they were two-year-olds growing up in Moncton — playing for hours with “little green army men.” They had fallen out of touch after Mr. Bourque’s parents didn’t want them spending time together anymore, he told Business Insider.

It was the recent death of Mr. Campbell’s father that brought them back together, albeit briefly. Mr. Bourque, whose family lived right around the corner, dropped by to offer his condolences.

Mr. Bourque’s social media presence is a mix of gun glamourization and wry anti-establishment, libertarian political commentary, critical of everything from police to cultural narcissism to Canada-Russia relations.

Police surrounded a rooming house Thursday afternoon and sent a robot inside before concluding he wasn’t there.

Bourque was spotted in the woods just after sunrise on Thursday, behind a Costco in Moncton, authorities said. There were two other potential Bourque sightings — also near the same Costco — on Wednesday night, but those reports couldn’t be confirmed, officials said.

The sighting [Thursday morning], we’re sure it was that particular individual,” said RCMP Assistant Commissioner Roger Brown, the province’s top Mountie.

… One image shows a civilian about to attack a police officer with the caption: “May 11-17 is National Police Appreciation Week. Remember to treat a cop like he would treat you.”

There were no murders in Moncton last year, or any in 2014 before Wednesday night.

It's so sad that we can't seem to do anything to prevent the downward spiral into insanity and violence, even though some alert friends could see that he was losing it.

But there's a common pattern in the behaviour of those who descend into gun violence. Can't we establish a national "Help Line" to report such individuals in an attempt to prevent such tragedy?
