I share everybody’s bafflement about why she was reported missing this fast.
Was something going on with her lately?
Was she someone who never did something spontaneous?
Was there an argument home, hence the direct worry?
Was she in need of some meds she doesn’t have with her and would never miss taking?

My hubby better not report me missing after a few hours, because we would have some words about that when I’m back...

The area her car was found lends itself to think she went on a hike, or it was placed there to make that impression.

Could she have had an accident while out and about in the woods?
Good thoughts about meds left behind- asthma inhaler, epipen, insulin injectable, nitroglycerin? Iirc, this is the start of yellowjacket season in Pacific NW. Lots of ppl very allergic.

If the missing person is in need of medication, that is usually stated in the description.

In general this is true, unless it is something which could be embarrassing and wouldn’t want to advertise if found fast.

The type of medication/condition doesn't have to be specified in the media (it often isn't).

RCMP in British Columbia - Missing person located deceased

[...]

The body of a Salt Spring Island woman missing since May 12th was found on May 15th.

Although a full determination has yet to be made, RCMP do not believe that criminality was involved in the woman’s sudden death

The BC Coroners Service is also investigating to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to her death.

The Salt Spring RCMP want to thank the over 100 volunteers who helped in the search.
No other information is available at this time.

Remembering Sinikka Elliott - Department of Sociology
May 15, 2021

We are saddened to hear that our colleague, friend, mentor and teacher Dr. Sinikka Elliott was found deceased today after going missing earlier this week.

[snip]

Sinikka was an exceptionally skilled and deeply engaged scholar with a deep-felt commitment to social justice and equality for all. A highly engaged colleague at all levels of the department and university as well as the discipline as a whole, Sinikka was particularly devoted to her students in Sociology, helping them to learn and grow personally and intellectually.

On behalf of all of us at the Department of Sociology, I offer my most sincere condolences to Sinikka’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

New on this site as of this posting October 3rd, 2021. Does anyone know the cause of death of Sinikka Gay Elliott? Was there a coroner's report? This is all very mysterious. 4-1/2 months have passed. She's reported missing in a very short amount of time, supposedly out on errands, car is found on an empty stretch of road. No mention of how the body was found, its condition, where, what was in the car. Scanty details to say the least.

When there was no crime, then there will be no further details provided to the public. This is especially true when a person takes their own life, not that this necessarily happened here, but it might have. In such cases, out of respect for the deceased and their loved ones, the media does not report any cause of death, nor are autopsy reports made available to the press.
