A Canadian Forces Snowbird jet has crashed in Kamloops.

Two jets took off from Kamloops Airport at about 11:30 a.m., bound for Comox, when one rose, then circled and crashed in an area near Glenview Avenue. There are reports the plane hit a house on that street and that the pilot managed to eject before the jet crashed.

There is smoke rising from the crash site as emergency vehicles descend on the area. The house is on fire.

The pilot landed on the roof of a house on nearby Schreiner Street.

Gurjit Sidhu witnessed the crash and told KTW a pilot was seen on the roof of a house, reportedly with back and/or neck injuries.

One person has died and another is gravely injured after a Canadian Forces Snowbird plane crashed in a residential area of Kamloops, B.C., while on a cross-country tour meant to impart hope during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miller said a couple in their early 70s lives in the home. Both are OK, she said, noting she'd spoken with them after they were evacuated to a nearby street.

The woman had been in the basement while the man was behind the house.

And Jennifer was a Halifax, Nova Scotia native. It's a horrible day for we serving in the Canadian military and yet another overwhelming tragedy for the province of Nova Scotia. I will remember her. May her family have some comfort in their memories of Jennifer and in her accomplishments.

From everything I've heard of her today from mutual friends, the Snowbirds could not have asked for a better Ambassador. She was a genuinely well-liked, professional and thoughtful human being.

Captain Casey certainly seemed to be a true inspiration... Perfect for "Operation Inspiration". My thoughts are with all those that knew and loved her.

video at the link appears to show two people eject
it looks to me like one of them gets his parachute deployed and the other person drops straight down

With video: Snowbird jet crashes into Kamloops house

Wow. So sad.

It looks to me like the plane veered away and veered upwards away from the other plane and maybe they took it at too much of a steep angle where it stalled or something. If you watch it closely as it goes away from person taking the video, it climbs at a steep angle and banks away to the left. If they didnt have enough plane thrust power as they took that steep climb, then its possible they were getting a stall warning and maybe they over compensated trying to prevent a stall.

So sad.
I am sure a thorough investigation will happen.
Hopefully the survivor will recover from their injuries.

saw this MSM tweet at the link

A flight student I spoke with at the scene said he was getting ready to go up and watched the takeoff. He said as the snowbird peeled off left and up he thought he heard a quick radio transmission to the tower something to the effect of “I need a runway”. #Kamloops #Snowbirds

I rather like this pilot's YT commentary with video/audio... you can hear a "pop" type sound just before Snowbird veers.

Thanks for the information and link that points to some possible engine or mechanical trouble. That would make more sense than what I was thinking.

Some of the other plane accidents and disappearances we covered here on WS have been very interesting.
